1999 NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION

"FFA--The Signature of Success" was the theme for the 72nd National FFA Convention, symbolizing the agricultural education organization's mission to prepare students for success throughout their lives. More than 49,000 FFA members, advisors, supporters, and guests attended the convention Oct. 27-30 at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in the city of Louisville, KY. Among the 49,000 in attendance, Franklin County FFA was well represented. The students that attended were: Will Foster, Timothy Touchstone, Tyler Williamson, Jolynne Laird, Katrina Wallace, and Candace Jones. Chaperones for the convention were advisor, Mr. Bobby Kelly and Vocational Counselor, Mrs. Stephanie Steele. The Franklin County FFA Chapter also had two students that placed with a bronze award in the National Proficiency Award Competition, they were John Kelly and Steve Lofton. Although the road to Louisville was a long one with months of planning and fund-raising, it was a trip that will not be soon forgotten. It is most apparent that the students made memories that will last a lifetime!
