MORAN AND MACK:
THE TWO BLACK CROWS
The Complete Moran & Mack TWO BLACK CROWS
AL BERNARD: Four volumes of mostly acoustic gems (thanks Dr. D!) from this legendary vaudeville-jazz-blues star.
not for the faint of heart: HARRY C. BROWNE Be warned: this guy is the most racist ancient vaudevillian-minstrel man you've ever heard. This stuff is really savage, lots of the "N" word. Two discs put together by Demento, a really fascinating slice of cultural history. And he's also a great performer, it's just that the material is a little extreme. As Demento says: "Warning, Watermelon Worship and Poultry Theft!"
OTHER THEME COMPILATIONS: more to come, I hope
"ADULT" COMEDY RECORDS
Many on Gay and / or Jewish themes,
Featuring Dwight Fiske, Ray Bourbon, Benny Bell and others.
DEMENTIA & MISC.
SPIKE JONES RARITIES: FOUR (!) whole discs of Jones 78s not on CD (or LP either, for the most part)
MEL BLANC: In His Own Voices!
Rare & Demented: Two volumes of novelty music assembled by the Good Doctor, lots of Freberg etc
BERT WILLIAMS 1906-1920
ETHNIC AND CULTURAL COLLECTIONS
some great THEME COMPILATIONS!
ETHNIC AND CULTURAL COLLECTIONS
THE RACE RECORD: private compilation, songs of cannibalism and cotton fields (very un-PC): Red Nichols, Al Jolson, early vaudevillians, dance bands, jazz...)
CHINESE RHYTHM - CHINOISERIE #1
coming someday soon.... again I hope! rough notes for a series of
(hopefully) forthcoming collections! Check this page out and give me some input!
""COON
SONGS"" 1899-1905 Apologies for the unfortunate albeit accurate
title.
HENRY SCHMIDT
PRESENTS THE PHONOGRAPH IN STORY, SONGS AND FACTS!
fascinating collection of songs and oddball records relating to the
history of recording! A great compendium by Henry!
VOCAL GROUPS: An expanding area!
Group Collections, mostly from Demento:
HUMOR IN HARMONY: '20s units such as The Yacht Club Boys, The California Humming Birds, The Sunshine Boys [DD]
JIG TIME : Black vocal groups of the '30s and early '40s
MICKEY KATZ: two hours of unissued Capitol material (if my DAT machine ever comes back from the shop!)
