( 8th Generation ) (**by children's names indicates Our Direct Lines) 8th Generation Lysle
Edward Rhea..........(son of Josiah
Edward 'Ned' Rhea and Nancy
Virginia Jackson)
Lysle had various occupations and interests during his lifetime.
Having received a scholarship to medical school, Lysle was to have become
a doctor, following a time-honored tradition in his family, but his mother
became ill, with Lysle dropping out of school and going to work to help
support his family. In his earlier years, he and his wife, Jeraldine,
trapped alligators in South Florida. He served in the Florida State
Guard during WWII and drove the city transit bus, transporting the military
troops to Tyndall Field, now known as Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL.
He later drove a taxi cab and was a school bus driver. In his later
years, he worked as a security guard for an oil tank facility in Lynn Haven,
FL for about 16 years. He loved to fish and worked on a commercial
fishing boat during the summers when he drove the school bus. He
was Presbyterian by faith. He was an avid checker
player; had a wonderful sense of very dry humor; could cook, having
taught both his wife and daughter, as he was a cook in the army; could
dance and taught his daughter to waltz to the tune of the Tennessee
Waltz and how to buck dance; and wrote poetry, especially for his daughter's
homework assignments :o)
He
was a friend to everyone, both rich and poor, never met a stranger and
never had an enemy.
~To
sample a wee bit of his sense of humor and ability to rhyme words,

Jeraldine, or 'Jerry' or 'Teady,' as most family members and friends called her, was a homemaker most of her life. She was Episcopalian by faith during her younger years and attended the Presbyterian church with Lysle. Later in life, she attended the Assembly of God church and was very active in her church. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand to help someone less fortunate or just listen to what was on their heart. She and Lysle always opened their doors to anyone in need and several times had welcomed families to stay with them until they could find a job or home. Among her interests were fishing, sewing, reading, cooking, crocheting and watching old movies on television. She made her daughter's wedding dress and veil. She had an "on-going account" with the local Bible Bookstore, buying and giving Bibles to different people she had met that didn't have a Bible. During the last 13 years of her life, she made her home with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She was a lady of great faith and never went anywhere without her Bible in her car.
