The Host with the Most?

Our reportersJean and Diarmuid rate the different web site hosters.

Geocities

Diarmuid: Its good. It is very reliable and fast to load with a good support system and they have finally gotten rid of the annoying pop-up banners. I have a page at geocities {SoccerSite} but I’m going to move it because of the long address. Also they tend to send a lot of junk mail. I get a ‘Geocities World Report’ about once every three days.

8/10~Joint Host with the most!

Angelfire

Jean: I have all my pages on Angelfire because it is very reliable; hasn’t been down once while I’ve been using it and it doesn’t burden you with junk mail. Another good point is it changes bmp files to jpg. Bad points however are a long address and pop-up banners or a banner on you site(you choose)

9/10~Joint Host with the most!

Fortune City

Diarmuid: Nothing special although it gives you 20MB of space. It doesn’t send you junk mail either. However it is not reliable as a while ago it deleted all its sites. If you use it keep a back up file.

5/10

Tripod

Jean: Tripod is nothing special, the same services as any but it does have a very annoying pop up add on every page.

5/10

Xoom

Diarmuid:They put you on mailing lists you can't get off of. They also put an ugly frame on the top of you page. The only plus is they have a good library of graphics and offer chat places and other net stuff. But these thing can be gotten easily elsewhere.

Expage

Jean>:It doesn't let you use your own images you must use theirs. It also requires a banner. This is basically crap. All the pages made on this {I think} look very childish. It is good for the very basic web siters who want a quick site with no real look.
