Renewing of Your Mind
The battleground of the mind is where the victory is won or lost for every believer. We never do anything, say anything, or react to anything, without there first having been a thought in our minds. Satan is well aware of this, and that is why he is constantly bombarding our minds with thoughts. For this reason we are admonished to "Bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." (2 Cor. 10:5) We are also told "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind"… Romans 12:2
You may ask, "How do I renew my mind?" The answer is as simple as reading and meditating on God's Word, then speaking that Word into the circumstances that Satan brings your way. When Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days and Satan tempted Him, He didn't tell the devil, "I'm the Son of God", or "Do you know who I am?" He simply said, "It is written!" Jesus used the Word of the Living God against Satan and defeated him, and that is exactly the way we are to respond when he attacks us. In order for us to respond to the attacks of the enemy with the Word of God, we must first deposit that Word into our hearts. We can't respond with something that we don't have.
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8
All through the Word of God, we are told to read, meditate upon, and speak God's Word. The very instant a thought comes into our mind that we know is contrary to the Word of God, we should begin to resist it, take it captive, and then eject it from our mind. The old saying goes, "We can't stop birds from flying over our heads, but we can stop them from building a nest in our hair." So, we too are to make sure that Satan is not allowed to plant a thought in our minds without us contesting it.
In order for us to be able to contest Satan's thoughts, we must first be able to recognize that they are his thoughts and not ours. The strength of Satan is in the lie and in order for us to recognize a lie, we must know the truth. God's revealed written Word is Truth! When we begin to read and meditate upon God's Word, it begins to get down into our hearts. Then, little by little, our minds begin to be renewed and transformed by the truth that is in God's Word. When Satan comes to us with his lies, we will instantly be able to discern between error and truth, because we have taken the time to hide God's Word in our hearts.
With this in mind, I have given several scriptures that I believe will be of great benefit to you. Take the time to go over each page and begin to implement these scriptures into your daily life. We recommend that you read each verse out loud. "Faith comes by hearing God's Word," but it will come much quicker if you hear yourself speaking God's Word into each situation that arises. (Romans 10:17)
