What's So Great About Music?

I've never played a musical instrument a day in my life, aside from a few elementary tunes on a piano. Nonetheless, music is at the center of my life. My musical tastes have changed greatly since that one Christmas when I received my first cassette tape (It was a single of Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire). I have gone from liking country music to Top 40 to Teeny Bop to Alternative to Rap/R&B and back again. The first concert I ever attended was MC Hammer and Boyz II Men in 1993! The latest one was AC/DC. Now, I enjoy listening to many different genre's of music.

My role as a student programmer at NDSU introduced me to a whole new love for music....not the music you hear on the radio ro see on MTV and VH1.....but music from up and coming college and club performers that is ready to be delivered to a larger audience. We often have solo singer/songwriters and bands perform on our campus, and I have become just as big of a fan of some of those musicians as I have some platinum selling artists. That's the beauty of music. It's everywhere!

Because of my experiences as a student programmer and an intern at a music agency, I feel that I have the tools and traits necessary to be successful in music promotion and artist development. I just want to thank people like my advisor Janine, my bro Dex, Paul (who got me involved in programming), Lance (who I owe many drinks to) from OnCampus Booking and Wally from Wally's World of Entertainment for taking me under their wing. It's gonna be a tough road, but I'm going to do it right and make it someday.

I love going to concerts and clubs to hear live music. My all time favorite performers include Garth Brooks, Michael Jackson, John Mellencamp, Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, Janet Jackson, and Aerosmith. My favorite college and club acts are Bari Koral, Dazy Head Mazy and Fade 2 Shade. What follows is a list of concerts I've attended, links to music agencies that I've worked with, and links to my favorite indie performers. The links will be growing as time goes on.
