Grandparents Day!!
Day's Til Grandparents Day, 2010

September 12th 2010

Grandparents are meant for kisses and hugs,
For watching rainbows and catching bugs.
For baking all of your favorite things.
For books to read and songs to sing."

-Author Unknown

Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in
your own house. Give love to your children, to
your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor...
Let no one ever come to you without leaving
better and happier. Be the living expression of
God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness
in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness
in your warm greeting."--Mother Theresa--

My Grandmother & My Aunt Mary

I remember her like it was yesterday..She died
when I turned 16..My grandpa and grandma lived
very close to us..My mom would drive me over
there after school and on weekends..

She taught me so much..life..how it was back in
her day. She would always tell me stories..but
what I remember most about her..was her kindness
and the way she always stuck up for me..when every
one else was down on me..Grandma and I baked
alot..we went over there after church every
Sunday and we had a feast..hehe..not kidding
my grandma could cook..her two favorites were
roast beef and yorkshire pudding..and pork
roast with roasted potatos..with all the
trimmings.

My grandma's sister..my Aunt Mary
there were both so wonderful..caring people
Aunt Mary was the same as grandma..always
telling her stories of long ago..and well
Aunt Mary every time we went there to visit
she would have tons of bake goods all ready
for us..with a big pot of chicken preppercosh
with lil dumpling in it...mmm...another thing
she always had was potato pancakes..with cottage
cheese..Aunt Mary Out lived all her brother's and
sisters..she died 7 years ago..at the age of 97

I miss them both so much..but I do know..that they
are watching over us..waiting for our time to go
there and be with them again.I dedicate this site
to them And to all the other wonderful Grandma's
and Aunt's

Grandparents Day

Just as we set aside special days to honor our
mothers and fathers, we honor our grandparents
also. Nowadays, the prefix grand means a relative
two generations older or younger. In speaking of
them as "grandparents", we give our parents'
parents a rank of special distinction, usually as
a sign of respect for their age.

Today, some grandparents live with their families,
and others choose to live in their own homes or
retirement villages. Wherever grandparents choose
to live, they have a special place in their family
and should be remembered often, especially on their
own special day.

In the year 1900 the average life span in the
United States was 47.3 years. A baby born in the
United States in 1985, however, can expect to live
74.7 years. Life expectancy was estimated in 1985
at 78.2 years for girls and 71.2 years for boys.
Now it is even greater. A large percentage of
people in the United States are living longer each
year. Some of them join organizations like the
American Association of Retired Persons to see
that their interests are protected. Others join
organizations that speak out for the causes of
older people, such as the Gray Panthers.

Today, many grandparents are raising their
grandchildren. This situation creates a new
family dynamics which I greatly respect and
admire!

In many cultures, the older members of a family
or community are highly respected and honored for
their age-proven wisdom.

"Age is a matter of feeling, not of years!"
