It is very special to me.

DARREN WILLIAM GRANT
JANUARY 23, 1968 TO AUGUST 31, 1990

This is the introductory page - my tribute to the son I still adore and miss every moment of every day.
Please check all of his pages - they make up who he was. Handsome yes (he would just say, "I'm cool!"), but that isn't what made everyone love him. It was that he loved everyone. Well almost. He never cared about the color of your skin, your religion, whether rich or poor, popular or a nerd, a deadhead or a jock, whether your hair was green or in a ponytail, or whether your clothes had designer labels or holes. However, he didn't like people who hurt people - physically or verbally.

Darren spent two years in the Army before starting college. He was stationed in Germany for a year and 1/2. I met him on the Costa del Sol in Spain for a week's vacation and we had such a great time enjoying the sun and seeing the sites. I will treasure those memories!

The picture at the top of this page was taken by Sara Duncan when we finally met when she visited Portland after emailing for two years. We went to McMenamin's because it was a special hang-out place for Darren and his friends. In fact his friends went there after the gathering following Darren's funeral. The picture is a drawing of the place and with a chalkboard at the bottom to list their special Microbrew beers. Sara had to stand on a wobbley stool to get this photo! I just love her.
