In the three days that over 150,000 men fought on the fields at Gettysburg, the amazing thing that is sometimes forgotten is that over 140 years later there is still damage that is visabilly seen in the town and on the battlefield. Many of the buildings in town and some trees still are scarred from this vicious battle during which over 50,000 men were casulties. These markings are one of the few reminders we can see with our own eyes to remind us of the great Battle at Gettysburg. Over the years alot of this has been lost to development, thieves and souvineer hunters. It is important that we preserve and protect this Battlefield. This page is dedicated to the battle scars that still exist on the battlefield today. If anyone has thier own photos of battle damage still visable today and would like to share it, please send your photos and the location to me and ill be happy to post it. Thanks to Larry Fetter who helped me in determining what is real and explaing this ever important subject to me.
