Billy Miles

Billy Miles first appeared on The X-Files in the Pilot episode as the mute almost comatose son of a police officer. Billy's father and the father of Theresa Nemin, who was the coroner, were covering up the deaths of classmates of Billy's and Theresa's. When Theresa's father realizes that she might die at Billy's hands, he tries to stop it, saving them both. Although Mulder believed it was alien related (when doesn't he?), the only evidence was an implant that could not be explained.

Fast forward seven years later to the seventh season finale Requiem. A deputy from Billy's town goes missing and his father, Detective Miles, seems reluctant to admit that there was a strange occurence (read: crash) in the woods. Mulder and Scully return to their first case together and meet Billy again, who is now perfectly normal and is a cop like his dad. They also meet Therea Nemin (Hoese) again whose husband, Ray Hoese, is the deputy that is missing. Mulder decides that previous abductees are being taken. Ray, Theresa, and Billy are all previous abductees. Mulder also fears that they may not return this time. Not only can't Mulder stop the abductions, he also is abducted.

In This is Not Happening, Theresa Hoese is returned, but badly injured. Billy Miles is also returned in this condition. He is found floating in water and is thought to be dead. However, he is barely alive. Billy gets out of his hospital bed, although not in the greatest shape, and showers his skin off. After his outer skin falls away, a perfect Billy is seen underneath. However, it is not really Billy. When Scully had been in his room, she had witnessed two heartbeats on the moniter. What is now Billy is an alien replacemnet or super soldier.

It becomes clear that Billy's intent is to kill Scully' unborn child. The reason is because the super soliders fear the child because it was a miracle- the fact that a God might exist that is greater than them. Billy and the other super soldiers watch the birth of the child in the eighth season finale Existence and decide not to kill it, because he was not what they expected.

After the eighth season finale, we don't see Billy Miles or any of the super soldiers in Existence (except Knowle Rohrer). We can assume, however, that Billy Miles is still alive since that the only thing that can kill super soldiers is a metal, and since we didn't see this happen on the show, he must still be alive.
