Dana Scully

Dana Katherine Scully was born Feburary 26th, 1964. In One Breath, Scully's mother, Maggie, tells Mulder that her younger daughter always wanted to be like her brothers instead of her sister,Melissa, which would make us think that she was a tomboy. But, Scully cried when she realized that she had killed the snake and, in The Unnatural, she states that she doesn't know how to play babseball(Well, I'm sure she knew how to play, she just couldn't play well.), which may suggest that she wasn't as much as a tomboy as we think she was.

We know that Miss Scully wasn't a perfect child and that she tested her parents. In two different episodes(Beyond the Sea & Never Again) it is mentioned that when she was younger, Scully stole her mom's cigerattes and smoked(But did she quit? In Syzygy she actually smoked, but of course everything was messed up in that ep anyway.). But even though she rebelled against him, Scully was very close to her father. She called him Ahab and he called her Starbuck(The captain and first mate of the Pequoid in Moby Dick. Later, Scully would name her dog, Queequeg, after another character from the same book.).

Sometime down the line, Scully decided she wanted to be a doctor. However, we learn that she was recruited out of Med school and joined the FBI sometime in 1990. She was assigned to The X-Files in May of 1992, where she was partnered with Mulder. We also know that dear old Mom & Dad weren't exactly thrilled about their daughter's decision to leave behind her career in medicine and to go to the FBI, but like the great parents that they are, they let her do it.

Since Scully was raised Catholic, she almost always wears a gold cross necklace given to her by her mom(There's two different stories on how she got it. Go here to read about them.). Scully's faith and her beloved science, not to mention all the paranormal stuff that goes on, usually butt heads(as they say) all the time. Through the series, Scully has struggled to keep her faith, when things are put before her that question God's existence(like the spaceship in the 7th season premiere), but somehow she has kept her faith through it all. Scully's been abducted, almost died from cancer, had a daughter die from a strange disease(of course, Emily's whole existence was strange), had her sister murdered, her father die of a heart attack, and had a son that she had to give up for adoption to protect his life. and, um, she kept her faith? That's what I call devout!

After Mulder was abducted, Scully loses all her skepticism. After Mulder's trial, Scully leaves with him. They live together and she hides him until the FBI asks for a favor in The X-Files: I Want to Believe. It is presumed that Mulder no longer needs to hide out from the FBI and that they continue to live together.
