From The Dallas Star on March 31st 1893. This is the Newspaper Account of Sgt. John W. Parks Company F , Three Month Volunteers. He was born in Dauphin County,PA. on July 17th 1813. He enlisted into the 23rd Pennsylvania at the Schuylkill Arsenal in Philadelphia on April 21st 1861. He served with the Regiment during thier Three Month Campaign and Battle of Falling Waters . He was mustered out of the 23rd PA on July 31st, 1861. He re-enlisted and served with the 28th PA and then the 147th PA until his muster out on July 15th 1865 as a Captain. After the War, He took a poistion with the Texas and Pacific Railroad in 1875.

From The Harrisburg Patriot on June 15th 1893. Suicide note of Private Samuel Ross Sperry Company G , 23rd Pennsylvania Volunteers. He enlisted into the 23rd Pennsylvania at the Schuylkill Arsenal in Philadelphia on August 21st 1861. Samuel Ross Sperry was Wounded at The Battle of Fair Oaks Virginia on May 31st 1862, near Richmond. Samuel Ross Sperry was Wounded at The Battle of 2nd Fredericksburg (Marye's Heights) Virginia on May 3rd 1863. Samuel Ross Sperry was Wounded at The Battle of Cold Harbor Virginia on June 1st 1864, near Richmond. After the War, He moved to Harrisburg and worked selling Ligtning Rods. He suffered mental health issues from is wartime injuries. Samuel Ross Sperry died in Harrisburg on January 17th 1900. We have yet to find his burial Location.

From The Philadelphia Inquirer, February 24th 1862. From the Encampment in Washington D.C at Camp Clark . The announcement that Thomas Neill has taken over Command of the 23rd PA Volunteers from newly promoted General David Bell Birney.
