This is the Non-Commissioned Staff of the 23rd PA.Quartermaster Sgt. William H Albertson, Sgt. Major Ira Webster, Com-Sgt. Oliver T. Eckert, Hospital Steward F. A. Neville.
Photo of Joshua Simster Garsed, 1st Lt. of Company B 23rd Pennsylvania.Joshua was musteredin as a corporal on August 2nd 1861,promoted to Sgt. and then again to 2nd Lt on October 20, 1861 and finally to 1st Lt. on July 12 1862. He was killed on July 3rd 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg. He is buried at Levrington Cemetery in Roxbourough, PA.
Photo of Musician William Thomas of Company C , 23rd Pennsylvania.William Thomas was mustered in on September 1st 1861, Captured at Stone Mountain September 1863,escaped from prison in Danville Virgina and mustered out with Company in September 1864.
Photo of Corporal William R. Roe of Company G, 23rd Pennsylvania. William Roe was mustered in on August 24th 1861, wounded at Gettysburg on July 3rd 1863,transfered to Co. E of the 82nd Pennsylvania on September 8th 1864, promoted to Sgt. of Company K an discharged a vet on July 17, 1865.
Photo of Captain Adolph F. Cavada of Company C, 23rd Pennsylvania. He was mustered in on August 1 1861, detached to General Humphry's Staff in July of 1862. He was appointed Breveted Major and Breveted Lt. Col. on March 13, 1865. Below is a great website on the Cavada Brothers.

Photo of Captain Fredrick Cavada of Company K, 23rd Pennsylvania. He was mustered in on August 6 1861, he resigned on July 20 1862and was commissoned Col. f the 114th Pennsylvania "Collis Zouaves".After the was he returned to Cuba and became the Commander in Chief of Cuban Insurgents. He was captured by the Spaniards and executed in July of 1871 in Mercades,Cuba. Below is a great website on The Cavada Brothers.
