1st Sgt. Alexander A. Powell Company F 23d PA. He was born to Thomas Powell and Maria Von Donagher Powell on September 27th 1838. Mustered in August 2nd 1861. Wounded at Fair Oaks May 31st 1862.and at Cold Harbor June 1 1864 where according to an action report he was killed. Family held a mock funeral in July 1864 only to hear he had lived.Prisoner of War from June 1st 1864 to March 1st 1865. He died on August 15th 1909 in Germantown,PA. His funeral was rendered by the Rev. William Boyer. He was laid to rest in an unmarked grave in Northwood Cemetery in Section (Maple Grove) Lot (600), Grave (3). For more information click here

Corporal Anthony Schaffer Company H 23d PA. Mustered in August 10 1861. Promoted to Corporal on May 1st 1864. Wounded at Gettysburg on July 3rd 1863 and at Cold Harbor on June 1st 1864. Discharged September 1864 and died from wounds recieved at Cold Harbor.
This is a Photo of Private Archibald F. McCorkle Company D , 23rd Pennsylvania Volunteers, also known by their nickname, “Birney’s Zouaves”. He was born in Philadelphia in 1846. He enlisted into the 23rd Pennsylvania at the Schuylkill Arsenal in Philadelphia on August 12th 1862. He served with the 23rd PA until the unit was mustered out on september 8th 1864. He was then transfered to the 82nd Pennsylvania Volunteers, Company H. He was mustered out of Service on June 17th 1865. After the War, He returned to Philadelphia. His death occurred on February 12th 1902. He is buried at Fernwood Cemetery in Lansdowne PA in Section 32, Lot 78, grave SW.

Pvt. Archibald Smith Company E 23d PA. Mustered in on October 13th 1862. Transfered to 82nd PA Company E. Discharged a vet July 13th 1865.
Musician Benjamin F. Jenkins Company B 23d PA. Mustered in August 2nd 1861. Transfered to the 82nd PA as a private,and discharged a vet on July 13th 1865.
Captain Fredrick Cavada Company K 23d PA. Mustered in August 6th 1861. Resigned on July 20th 1862 to be Col. of the 114th PA. Commander in chief of Cuban Insurgents, captured by Spaniards and executed by firing squad in July 1871.
