the one common fact we found was that Potters was terminal. I wish there was
more information available, and some research being done”
“Renal agenesis limits the
amount of amniotic fluid and results in further anomalies during the prenatal life.
The renal agenesis may be the only primary defect, or it may be one feature of a
deeper anomaly. Other types of urinary tract defects such polycystic, multicystic kidneys or obstruction may also be responsible for oligohydramnios
(lack of fluid) and its consequences. Another cause is chronic leakage of
amniotic fluid from the second trimester onward.
The lack of fluid causes
pulmonary hypoplasia and the baby dies from respiratory failure.
