Marvel Transformers Crossovers

Expanding on the success of their Star Wars Transformers line and cashing in on their fairly recently-acquired license to manufacture Marvel figures, Hasbro introduced the Marvel Transformers Crossovers line in the summer of 2008. The line features non-licensed vehicles that could transform into likenesses of Marvel superheroes (and supervillains), and though they came with no pilot figures, were explained as "battle suits" for the superheroes themselves. As with the earlier Star Wars Transformers, there was only one normal size category-- $15 U.S., with bigger-price items being once-per-year at the most. The Transfandom was generally more accepting of these toys than the Star Wars Transformers, most likely because of the overall better engineering of the line, since the vehicle modes did not have to fit specific proportions so perfectly. A limited assortment of these toys was released in the "Iron Man 2" line, called "Concept Series" Crossover Transformers, and were all different versions of Iron Man and War Machine. Additionally, in 2012 some of the toys were slightly re-painted and re-released in the "Avengers" movie toyline as "Transformers Mech Machines".
Additionally, in 2012 "Flip-and-Attack" vehicles-- using the same simple transformation gimmicks as the Jumpstarters Top Spin and Twin Twist from the initial G1 line-- were released for both the "Amazing Spider-Man" and "Avengers" movie toylines. These were released for about $10 U.S. each, and like the TF Crossovers, transformed from vehicle into a mechanized version of the character in question.
In 2013, to coincide with the "Iron Man 3 movie", simple 1-step automatic transformation "Battle Charger" toys were released of Iron Man and War Machine as well, for $10 U.S.
