| The real fate of the entire Imperial Royal Guards battalion was actually unknown. Many theory were put up to explain their sudden disappearance after the Emperor's final death at Byss. But according to the accounts of the last Guardsman, Kir Kanos; in a rare moment of unification, all remaining Guardsmen whose loyalty is still to Emperor Palpatine, returned to their training center on Yinchorr to mourn the final loss of their Emperor; uncertain of their final destiny . . . . . |

A Guardsman who was with Palpatine at the time of his death also arrived on Yinchorr, revealing that the Emperor was betrayed by one of their own: Carnor Jax! As the Guardsmen swore retribution, Imperial Stormtroppers attacked the training center; ordered by Jax to eliminate all of the Royal Guards, labeling them as traitors to the Empire. The Guardsmen were massacred; for every enemy they cut down, ten more emerged to blast them. Finally, only one Guardsman survived: Kir Kanos. |

| There could also be a possibility that some of the Imperial Guards who were on missions when Emperor Palpatine was slained on the Second Death Star, choose not to return to the Imperial Royal Guards rank and continue to serve under their current leaders. Some even deflected or went into hiding to ensure their safety. One example of such deflector is Major Tierce; who later turned up within Grand Admiral's Stormtroppers unit. According to anonymous Imperial Sources, 4 Imperial Guardsmen were also found controlling the infamous Dark Academy 9 years after Emperor Palpatine's ultimate death. |
