| The Emperor's Imperial Royal Guards were typically scattered throughout the Galactic Empire, doing the word of their Emperor. Some were regularly assigned special missions, usually of the kind unworthy of the normal of the Stormtroppers, by the Emperor himself. Others were rotated into Stormtroppers Units to keep them in fighting trim shape. |
| After more than thirty years of spreading its New Order throughout the universe, a dark time came upon the Empire. Imperial forces suffered a devastating defeat at the Battle of Endor, in which the Empire lost not only most of its fleet and the half-completed superweapon, the Second Death Star; but also its Emperor. The fate of the Imperial Royal Guards was at stake. |
| Some of the Guardsmen returned to the Imperial Capital, Coruscant, to serve the Emperor's replacement: Imperial Vizier Sate Pestage. There were others who choose to remained with their Stormtropper Units, desiring only to fight for the Empire. Others, felt that they served the Emperor best by remaining true to his ideas, followed their own path. |
| Later, six years after the Battle of Endor, Emperor Palpatine returned from the dead in a cloned body, to lead his Empire again. The Imperial Royal Guards felt a new era of glory was upon the Empire again; but soon, with the Emperor's cloned destroyed and Palpatine's ultimate destruction, they found themselves without direction. In a rare moment of unification, all remaining Guardsmen returned to their training center on Yinchorr to mourn the final loss of their Emperor; uncertain of their final destiny. |
