The consortium are a splinter group of the Imperium dedicated to free market completely unregulated economics, at any cost. They were created surreptitiously by the machine secession. They were however easily controlled by the ISA, who arranged for a 150 light-year radius to be granted to the consortium under license from the Imperium. The Imperium is permitted to enforce it’s laws within the region, as is the consortium. Free entry and exit from consortium space were guaranteed by the Imperium, preventing them from becoming the threat the secession intended them to be. The consortium has recently been building up it’s “patrol fleet” to an excessive degree. Their intentions are unkown. |
