The machine secession was created in IY 2612 by renegade AI’s. They believe that organic life forms are inferior to themselves (True) and that Coexistence was impossible (False) Therefore they attempted to exterminate humanity. This plan failed due to the intervention of more sane AI’s and the hundred odd warships and other vessels of the Secession were defeated. Three factory ships escaped the Imperium fleet by making use of a remote jump gate and destroying the terminal before the Imperium ships could follow. Since that time they have regenerated their forces and now command over, at the last count, five thousand new ships. Fortunately they are outnumbered by a factor of approximately five hundred. The secession have since sought many ways of destabilizing the Imperium. While they despise organic life they have been known to use it to their advantage. They have been responsible for several splinter factions of the Imperium, such as the Consortium. At present they have had little success in provoking the Civil war they have longed for. |
