Imogen's AnniversariesHow we remember, celebrate, commemorate.
Imogen Mighty would have turned 2, 30 December 2002. Because she was so small, we have no idea what she would have been like as a two year old. We imagine her to be her bright spunky self, only tiny. We often picture her walking out the door with a gigantic book under her arm, determined to make her way in the world.
We decided to head to the beach on Imogen's birthday. We chose her day as the day to inaugurate our new beach hut, a very fancy tent like contraption that when untied, springs up into the perfect shady area. It felt comfortable and private inside while providing much needed sun protection on what was a typical hot Australian summer day. The beach was packed out with alot of tan people.
We got Imogen bear out, setting her up with some beach toys, thinking, "Imogen would have liked this." I also made her bear a pretty white swimming costume for the day. Kieron read his book while I just watched people and listened to the surf.
We took a few turns in the waves but once it started to feel really hot, we decided it was time to head out. Luckily, we managed to fold our beach hut back into it's small backpack. I was a little worried about that.
We bought Imogen a lovely strawberry cheesecake and headed home to light her two birthday candles. It was a delicious cake.
