These guys were great to us!!!!
They were working at one of the hotel bars - the ones on the beach.

We were walking back to the center of Cancun, along the beach. There are so many hotels, built alongside the beach and many of them have bars opening out onto the sand. With the surf crashing just metres away, it's such an inviting place to while away the hours, with an ice cold beer or two (..or three, or four, or...)

Anyway, this particular hotel and this particular bar stood out (particularly so). It was so colorful and just seemed so, well, funky.
Yes, that's right. I said funky.

We immediately gravitated to it. The hotel was built behind the bar, up onto the gently sloping beach/lagoon side. The bar faced out onto the beach. They had a nice long bar, with bar stools and they also had hammocks facing the ocean and some sun loungers on the sand and also some cool climbing ropes/vines and a few swings! It was all quite funky - there it is again.
To top it off, we were the only ones there!!!!

The bar was ours!

We talked to the barman (guy on the left), a nice guy who kept the bar open for us, long after closing time. We learned from him that the bar had just been redesigned (all expenses paid) by MTV, who were filming their reality show - 'RealCancun' in that very hotel!

Needless to say, we stuck around, to see some action - we certainly got some (check out the next photos for an example).
