Taste of Italy: 2003 (12 days): All days are well-planned. A few sample days' itinerary are listed: Day 3: After a continental breakfast, boarded a boat in the port of Sorrento to the Isle of Capri. Spent the day on this magical island where some hired a boat to view the Blue Grotto, sailed the azure waters and explored the coves and cliffs, or rode to the top of the island for a spectacular view of the Mediterranean and the Bay of Naples. Day 5: A short subway ride took us to the entrance of the Vatican Museum. Spent a few hours viewing the treasures collected from the far corners of the globe and the unbelievable artistry of the Sistine Chapel with its walls and ceiling glorified by Michelangelo and Botticelli. Visited St. Peter’s to view the altar canopy cast from the bronze of the ancient Pantheon and the crypts of St. Peter and his successors. Only the daring climbed to the top of the basilica for a majestic view of Rome. Day 12: Departed Italy from Venice to Newark. This trip was priced to include:
Tuscany--The Road Less Traveled, 2002 (an eight day sampling of a 13 day tour): Day 1: Departed Philadelphia International to Rome Day 2: Arrived at Leonardo da Vinci Airport. Traveled by coach to seaside hill town, Massa Marittima with stops for a sumptuous lunch and a tour of the Etruscan necropolis at Cerverteri. Day 3: Toured the mountain towns of Mt. Amiata. Viewed a pottery demonstration and had lunch at a rustic podere (farmhouse). Pizza under the stars in piazza of Massa Marittima. Day 4: Roamed through the hill town of Volterra and, in San Gimgiano, sampled the best gelato in Italy. Day 5: Visited Pisa and its famous duomo and bell tower. Enjoyed the hospitality of our baronial villa nestled in the Florentine hills. Day 6: A full day in Florence with reserved tickets for the Academy where we saw Michelangelo's David. Tours of the Medici Chapel, Church of San Lorenzo, and the Duomo. Stopped at a Cistercian Monastery and sampled the monks' "elixirs". Day 7: Another day in Florence with reserved tickets at the Uffizi Gallery and an afternoon of shopping. Day 8: An early morning visit in Pienza then a six-course, six wine luncheon at Villa Banfi.
