Getting ready for your European adventure is crucial to ultimate travel enjoyment and comfort. After innumerable travel experiences, I have gained expertise in what can go wrong and how to fix it for the tour itself. However, there are many aspects of the trip that only you can control. I have listed a few items here. Of prime importance is travel insurance-consider this a must.
Travel Insurance: It may seem expensive until you need it. I can put you in touch with a company that offers coverage for trip cancellation, emergency medical evacuations, lost luggage, etc. for an excellent price. The best way to begin any travel adventure, is with the peace of mind travel insurance offers. Pack Lightly: When you are touring, moving luggage is your responsiblity. Be kind to yourself in advance by packing lightly so that you can enjoy the trip more fully! Travelers' Checks: Forget them--there are ATMs everywhere. A spare card and antimagnetic envelopes for the cards, however, are a good idea. Medications: If you need medications, bring enough for the duration of the trip. You might also want to bring prescriptions. Passport: Make sure it is current and make copies of it. Security: Consider investment in security for your valuables (neck pouch, shoulder bag or leaving your valuables at home, etc.) Become familiar with your itinerary: Try to learn about the places you will visit. e.g. seeing the film, The Gladiator, will give you a better perspective of the Colosseum. See my Reading List page for more information to help you prepare.
