Me at our hotel in Ios!!

I went to the Greek Islands in June 2000 and travelled around the Cyclades for 2 weeks. It was absolutely incredible! The trip started off with us accidently getting off the ferry bound for Mykonos to the 3rd largest island in the Cyclades 'Tinos', it was a beautiful island with almost no tourists. We really got to experience Greek life for the 3 days we had on the island.

Below left: Pool life at the 'Far Out hostel' in Ios. This place only cost us I think £6/night and it had 2 swimming pools, a waterslide, 2 bars and was straight across the road from the beach! What more could you want?

Me & Marina in Mykonos

After our little stint in Tinos, we headed off to one of the most beautiful (but overcrowded) islands in the mediterranean, Mykonos. Here is Marina and I overlooking Mykonos town. What an incredible view.

To the right is a picture of one of the many alleyways with cobblestone paths, whitewashed buildings with brightly painted wooden shutters and of course the brilliant bouganvillea cascading down the walls. You can't get any more Greek than that!

Greek boys This was our welcoming committee at Super Paradise beach in Mykonos...or really just some dudes we met the night before who helped us out with our Greek dancing....

It is an incredible sight, about 25 minutes drive from the port of Mykonos lies this haven for the bronzed and beautiful. People flock here and relax on the beach, swim in the pool, play volleyball or dance the day away at the bar. It is absolutely incredible to see!
Can you believe the colour of the water? It was so clear and everywhere I looked there were beautiful people with beautiful bodies. Amazing place. Super Paradise beach
Me again Left - me on the balcony of the 'Far Out hotel' in Ios where we stayed 1 night after spending 2 days at the 'Far out hostel'.

Right - Marina sitting on the beach of Super Paradise sippin on a Pina Colada!

Us and 2 Greek boys we met Here we are in our hotel in Mykonos with 2 of the 3 Greek guys (from the mainland) who we met at a club one night, we asked them to take us to a traditional Greek club and show us some Greek dancing, which they did, and I couldn't believe how good they were!! Dancing must be a huge part of their culture because let's face it, you wouldn't see an Aussie bloke ballroom dancing down the pub would ya?

Me & Errol!!
Here we are enjoying a beer or ten with two members of staff at Flames, Jo and Corey. I wanted their job - all they had to do was stand around and make sure people were having fun - they could drink for free and get completely rotten if they wanted to. What a job.
This is me with one of the South African's we met (Errol from Durban) whilst partying out in Ios town, Ios was our next stop after Mykonos and pretty much wore us out in the 3 days we spent there. Our favourite bar was called 'Flames', good fun.
Red Beach, Santorini This is the 'red beach' on Santorini, we had hired mopeds and drove from the bottom of the island to the top, stopping at Oia to watch the sunset which was magical. After watching the sunset we went to Thira, the 'capital' of Santorini and sat in a cafe overlooking the harbour and all the lights of Thira. It was just magnificent. We stayed in Santorini for 3 days before heading back to Mykonos.
