Background:
Corav Feala is the only child--due to the Cardassian capture and assumed killing of an older sister, Corav Jaxin--of a small farming family living on the outskirts of Janir, Bajor. Her father, Corav Esseta, and her mother, Corav Lason, gave up the resistance effort when Lason's pregnancy was realized, making their family essentially outcasts among the few other Bajorans in the area. Feala thus grew up knowing only herself and her parents very well. The Cardassian occupation mostly left her family alone for reasons she wouldn't understand for quite some time, and when the occupation ended when she was ten, she was left with no real connections to others.

Although their neighbors eventually softened up a bit, Feala's family was never quite friendly with more than a few people at a time. Their family worked at restoring the amount of farmland that they could work on their own, so that they could be self-sufficient with enough extra for some handouts during the reconstruction effort. Within a few months of maintaining plots of cava roots and grain, Feala grew tired of the routine behind farming, feeling as if the monotony of such a dead-end lifestyle would eat away at her. News of the Emissary's arrival on the station now known as Deep Space Nine, however, spread through the Bajoran planet like wildfire. The idea that he was part of Starfleet and had come from a planet far from Bajor sparked dreams of traveling among and exploring the stars that had not been present before. The rest of her years on Bajor were spent studying old texts that she and her parents would trade their goods for in between her duties on the land.

After spending the next seven years on Bajor, Feala's parents surprised her with the fact that they had booked passage for her to DS9, and that they had been assured that there would be a starship to take her to Earth within at least a few weeks. She left most of her belongings at home and set out aboard the Bajoran freighter Alyrana to DS9 and then, later, the Federation starship Tomich to Earth. She took the Academy entrance exams and, though having such informal studies made them quite difficult for her, she was able to enroll in the Academy in the following entrance class at the age of eighteen.

Although she originally enrolled with intent to become a security officer, she found her interests in that area of training to be severely lacking. After speaking with the career counselors at the Academy, it was determined that she had only trained for such a career due to feeling as if she, as a Bajoran living during even a part of the resistance effort, should have had some sort of battle role. She decided to redirect herself toward ship operations and sciences, particularly sciences in the field of temporal mechanics. Her grades while in the Academy were good, although on the lower end of good due to finding a need to devote much more time to studies than others in her classes. Upon graduation, she was assigned to the USS Avalon, to which she reported for duty on Stardate 58311.8.

Personality Profile:
Corav Feala's lack of participation in the resistance effort made her a loner, with her only stable ground being her parents. Her hobbies were all in games and crafts that she could do on her own, thus her most well-developed talents lie in areas such as landscape painting and sketching. In fact, she keeps a sketch of her mother from when she was in her mid-forties tucked in among her belongings. Her background caused her to develop into a person who makes only a few very deep, close connections to others instead of forming, or even desiring, large numbers of acquaintances. This showed through during her time at the Academy, when she found herself in a group of four other close friends who kept mostly to themselves for support and companionship--two humans (Melody Castanon and Russell Peake), a Trill (Nevazi Yoran), and a Bolian (Zott Hrilar). She had a brief relationship with Peake which ended when Feala decided she preferred their relationship as a friendship, and another relationship with a Bajoran at the Academy by the name of Indaam Ven. This latter relationship ended when Cadet Indaam chose to leave the the Academy, and if not for the fact that his parting gift--an earring much more suited for a member of Starfleet than the one she had been wearing since childhood--showed her that their paths were not to be together, she may have followed.

Feala is very cautious in new situations and around new people, and she often chooses to place her trust in intuition and first impressions. Her recent changes of circumstance have brought about many changes to her personality. Her desire to find a place on the USS Avalon has brought her "out of her shell," as has her newfound family. She considers Verkal and Liel Andora close enough to consider them like siblings, and she has been welcomed as family as well by her love, Alexander Hunter, and his sister and daughter. Feala describes herself as "very happy" in all of her roles aboard the ship and "very in love" with Alexander.

She prefers to spell her family name "Corav" rather than use the standard transliteration from Bajoran, "Korav." Also, though it is a side of her personality that is rarely seen, Feala holds an interest in philosophies as well as sciences, and she is particularly intrigued by the many ideas surrounding paradoxes of time and existence.
