The next morning- Dawson goes into the kitchen, Gale is in there...
Gale: Good morning, honey. What are you doing up so early?
Dawson: Amber is leaving for Philadelphia today. I just wanted to give her a proper goodbye and tell her everything.
Gale: Everything? What do you mean by that?
Dawson: She told me she loved, Mom. It felt great to hear that again, but it also made me feel guilty.
Gale: How so?
Dawson: To make a long story short, things between Pacey and Joey didn't work out and she wants to be with me. I told her that things can't magically get better between us and that I can't just forget everything that has happened. That I needed to figure things out. And I feel by not giving Joey and I another chance, I'm betraying her and we could possibly have again.
Gale: Honey, do you love Amber?
Dawson: Yeah. I think I do. She is great and I really enjoy being with her.
Gale: Do you still love Joey?
Dawson: Of course. I think a part of me always will. She's Joey. ( he smiles, looks at his watch ) Well, I gotta go. Amber has to leave soon.
Gale: Okay, honey. Good luck with whatever you decide. You know that I'm here for you. ( she smiles )
Dawson: Thanks, Mom. ( He leaves )
Amber's Apartment- Dawson arrives and knocks on the door...
Amber: Hey
Dawson: Hey.
Amber: Come in. So, do you want to go first or me?
Dawson: You can go.
Amber: Okay.
They sit on the sofa...
Amber: I guess the first thing I want to say is, I'm sorry about my behavior last night. It's just when a person says " I love you " you kind of expect to hear those three words back. And when you didn't say it, it got me doubting what we have. I mean, I thought we were doing great and that we were on the same wavelength, but after what happened. I'm not so sure anymore.
Dawson: Amber, I'm going to be honest with you. This is my longest lasting relationship. My first one was basically just an infatuation and wasn't tha serious at all. But my second relationship was different. I truly believed that I had found the person that I wanted to share my life with. And now that a sixteen year old thinking like that is crazy, but it's how I felt. She was everything to me. Things changed though and she broke my heart. And then you came and my life was finally looking up again. I keep thinking why would would you even want to be with me A high school kid? You know? Why does this girl love me?
Amber: Well, Dawson you are not like most high school boys. Besides you're a Senior now. The age difference isn't that big between us. And I'm sorry that othe girl broke your heart. I understand why you feel scared abot saying " I love you " back. You're afraid it will all go away. But I'm not her, Dawson. I realize what a wonderful guy you are. That girl doesn't know what she is missing. ( She smiles )
Dawson: Thank you, Amber. That really means a lot to me. ( he hugs her )
Amber Well, I better go. I have a fight to catch.
Dawson: I'll walk you to your car.
They go outside...
Dawson Before you go, I just want to say one thing. Something I should have said last night.
Amber: What's that?
Dawson: I love you and have a safe trip.
Amber: That was two things. ( she smiles and kisses him ) I love you too. I'll email you, so I won't run up the phone bill. ( she smiles ) Bye, Dawson.
She leaves and Dawson heads home...
Hmm, has Dawson really moved on or is he trying to convice himself he has?....;-) Part 9 coming soon!
