The only girlfriend that Chandler has never been able to break up with is Janice. She made her first appearance on the show as an already ex-girlfriend of Chandler’s that he called up for a New Year’s party, desperate for a date. Janice is most famous for her laugh and exclamation of “Oh my God!!” It’s the laugh that annoys everyone the most.
Chandler used to call her when he was desperate for a date, although their encounters are not always planned. Joey unknowingly set them up when he took Chandler on a double date and Janice was the friend that Joey’s date had brought. After realizing how picky he was about his dates, Chandler called her up again. But now she was married and pregnant. They met again, however, in a chatroom on the Internet, not knowing each other’s identities. This time, however, there appeared to be something different. Chandler was in love with her. They dated seriously again for awhile until she decided to work things out with her ex-husband.
But this was not the end of their relationship. Over a year later, while Chandler was at a beauty shop with Rachel, Janice found him again. This time, Chandler could not stand her. In an attempt to get rid of her, he convinced her that he was moving to Yemen. And that was the end of Janice. Or was it?
Almost a year later, after Ross’ divorce, Janice ran into him. Ross realized they had a lot in common and he dated her. The tables turned this time when Janice was the one to end the relationship, quipping to Joey, “That’s two out of three.”
It finally looked like Janice was out of the picture for good when she made trouble in Chandler’s relationship with Monica. Well, not really. Scrambling for a Valentine’s Day gift for Monica, Chandler found a mix tape to give her of romantic songs. It turned out to have been made by Janice for Chandler when her voice came over it wishing her Bing-a-ling a happy birthday.
The following year, Janice was dining in Allesandro's and didn't like her chicken. She came back to tell the chef exactly how she wanted it. The chef was Monica. She saw Monica's ring and learned of her engagement to Chandler, but that didn't stop her from wanting to be at the wedding. They managed to convince her that Chandler still has feelings for her and Janice should stay away from them.
She turned up in the hospital when Rachel was giving birth as one of her roommates. She was now remarried to a man named Sidd who is almost entirely deaf and having their baby. The next year Janice appeared at the fertility clinic with Chandler and Monica. In her final appearance, she and her husband her interested in buying the house next door to Chandler and Monica. Chandler convinced her it would be perfect so that they could have an affair, but she decided she needed to be strong and not move in after all.
