  • Class Types
    and Contract Options

There are two main ypes of private English language schools in Taiwan, Bushibans and Kindergartens.

Bushibans usually operate in the afternoons and evenings when regular Chinese school lets out.

Kindergartens generally operate all day, but depending on the school, teachers can be hired to teach half-day classes(usually mornings) or full-day classes.
    Bushibans
Classes are usually held in the afternoons and evenings. This is when the kids aren't at their Chinese school. This leaves the mornings free to follow other areas of interest such as studying Chinese. You could also find some other place to work, but this must be done with extreme caution due to the strict regulations on an teachers work permit. Apparently now teachers can work for more that one employer, but you must get any additional employer's details added to your Alien Resident Certificate.

    Basic Class Break Up
Classes are generally 100 mintes long, (2 x 50 minute periods with a 10 minute break between.

    Components of the classes include:
  • Reading
  • Phonics
  • Grammar
  • Conversation
  • Songs and Chants
  • Class activities
  • Homework
  • Kindergartens
Kindy's can operate as either morning classes, afternoon classes or full day classes. You could find a place to work to fit your schedule. Again care must be taken if you work at more than one school. Kindergartens generally can't provide work permits unless they are affiliated with a bushiban. Check this imformation carefully before deciding to secure a positon at a Kindergaten.

    Basic Class Break Up
Kindy classes can vary in length depending if you teach in the morning or afternoon. Hours are generally:
  • Mornings: 9am to 11:30am
  • Afternoons: 1:30pm to 4pm

Components of a Kindergarten class include:
  • Exercise Time
  • Sharing Time
  • Snack Time
  • English Time
  • Fun Time
  • Lunch Time
  • So How Do You Teach English?

If you are thinking, how do you each all that stuff mentioned above???

    DON"T WORRY"

Full training and on going teacher support is provided free.
You will even be issued a TEFL certificate upon completeion of your employment contract if you complete all your training sessions.

    Teaching Schedule
The above teaching schedule is my actual teaching schedule as of June 2007. It may change in the future as levels finish and new classes open, though it will stay basically the same. I have a few vacant time slots so I am open for more free time or teaching more classes if required.

As you can see, I teach 12.5 hours per week at Kindergarten and 18 hours per week at Bushiban. The Language School and Kindergarten is with the same employer, so this saves any work document problems.

This means all my mornings are free. So what do I do in my spare time. I go to the GYM first thing in the mornings and then attend CHINESE LESSONS. It also gives me time to play with this website. What a life style. At least I am enjoying it. Having a good time, studying, working and saving. You can too. APPLY NOW!!!

Disclamer:This is a free service. I do this in my spare time. I do not and can not employ teachers. I will refer your details submitted to some of the well known schools in Taiwan. They will contact you in regards to available positions. The above requirements are the requirements set by the Taiwanese Bureau of Education in order to gain a work permit so to work legally in Taiwan. I cannot change these, so please don't ask me for exceptions.
