My Favorite Bread Recipies.

My Award Winning Dinner Rolls
4 - 4 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 TBS sugar
2 pkgs Quick Rise dry yeast
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1 egg, room temperature

Heat milk, water and butter to approximately 125 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add liquid mixture, then add egg. Mix well, and gradually add the rest of flour, until kneadable. Knead together about 5 minutes. Let rest with bowl covering dough mixture for 20 minutes. Shape as desired, and let rise (approximately 1 -2 hours). Bake at 425 degrees for about 12 minutes.

*HINT: When making loaf bread, in order to tell doneness, pluck top of loaf and it should sound hollow.


Monkey Bread

3 cans buttermilk biscuits
2 cups sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup broken walnuts, divided
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine

Remove all biscuits from cans and cut each one into quarters with scissors. In a plastic bag, shake each piece in mixter of cinnamon and sugar until well coated. Line a well greased 10" tube pan or bundt pan with part of biscuit pieces. Sprinkle with part of nuts and add remaining biscuits pieces. Melt brown sugar and butter together and pour over biscuits. Add remaining nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Kelly's Bannana Bread

2 1/2 cups flour, all purpose
2 cups sugar
3 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp salt
3 TBS oil
3/4 cup milk
1 cup mashed ripe bannanas
1 egg
1 cup nuts (OPT)

Heat oven to 300 degrees. Grease and flour two loaf pans. Mix ingredients and beat with electric mixer 30 seconds on medium. Pour into loaf pans, and bake 55 - 60 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool before slicing.

Aunt Louise's Christmas Loafs
(NOTE: My great aunt makes this bread every Christmas and gives loaves to everyone in the family, including all married nieces, nephews, friends, brothers, sisters, you name it! She had 13 brothers and sisters, so you can imagine the excitement that goes on in her kitchen! Everyone LOVES this bread! She is getting on in her years now, and I would love to be able to continue her tradition when she feels it is time for her to stop, but we all hope she continues doing this for a LONG time!)

5 lbs flour
2 TBS salt
2 cups warm milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 pkgs dry yeast
1/2 cup shortening

Put flour in large bowl. Add salt, sugar. yeast, and milk. Add shortening and mix together (may need to add some warm water). Dough should be soft. Put on floured board and knead. Grease bowl and put in dough. Let rise until double in size. Make in loaves or rolls and put in greased pan. Let rise again. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.
