Time to teach your child some more advanced concepts of deity.  Your older child now has the capacity to understand that the Goddess and God are some unreachable deities that float on a cloud in the sky.  They can understand that the Goddess and God are everywhere.

The Triple Goddess

The Triple Goddess is described as the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone.

The Maiden represents girlhood, a time of being free and unbound to any man (or woman).  Her mind and body are Her own, to do with as She pleases.  She represents the freshness of youth, and the joy of innocence.

The Mother represents just that - motherhood.  A time when She brings forth life.  As the Mother, She is fiercely protective of Her children, and as such, She is like a Mother Bear when Her children are threatened - deadly.  She is also kind and nurturing, and will not hesitate to spoil Her children and cuddle them from time to time as they need it.

The Crone represents the time of life when Her wisdom is much sought after.  She has lived a long life and has many experiences to share with those who seek to know.  Many people fear Her, and cut Her from there lives, but at their own expense.  For unless we learn how to face the Dark Goddess in Her Crone aspect, we can never truly know Her.  She brings death and destruction - but this is part of all life, for without death, there can be no rebirth.  She is a necessary and healthy part of all life.

The Grain and Game God

Now we can expand upon our earlier lessons about the God.  Not only can he be viewed as Father Time, but he is also known as the Grain and Game God.

One of the earliest impressions man had about God was that He was connected closely to the animal world.  Thus He was viewed as a Game or Hunting God.  Early man made sure that they gave proper respect to the animals they were hunting, and they also asked the Game God for His assistance during the hunt, to make sure that all came back safely and with a bountiful hunt.

As time passed and early man learned how to cultivate plants, the God transformed into not only a Hunting God, but a Grain God as well.  He was worshipped in this form for thousands of years after this.  This is a subject that deserves much research and attention.  Do your child a favor and learn more about the God's Grain and Hunting aspects.  They will benefit from these different views of God in the long run.
