The Shadowed Man
Tossing and turning in her bed, Lainey opened her sleepy eyes, breathing hard. Why couldn't she go to sleep? Whats' wrong with me? she thought. She looked at her clock and saw it was just 1:30 a.m. Suddenly, she froze. She sat there, then sat up. In her doorway, a shawdowy figure of a man was standing in the center of it. She blinked, and blinked hard. Man, I need to put my contacts in, she said to herself, laying back down. She slowly glanced at her doorway, and seen the shadow had gone. She took a deep breath and rolled over. She closed her eyes, then suddenly opened them again. The face of a demon-resembling thing stared back at her, with its's sad face. Its mouth opened, and let out a peircing scream. She screamed and rolled out of her bed. She put on her flasses, since she had rolled beside her dresser. She looked at her doorway, and nothing was there. She stood up, and walked towards it, then walked into the hall. She froze in horror as the shadowy man stood at the end of it. She started to back up, as the man came closer. She turned and ran, running into the nearest room she came to - the bathroom. She closed the door fast and locked it. She sat in the corner and cried, shaking from the fear. She felt her hair sweep back heind her ear... just like her boyfriend, Sage used to do... before the accident (a tragic car crash in which he died instantly). Lainey looked behind her, seeing the shadowy figure. She shuttered and tried to run, but she couldn't move - she was planted into the grown and frozed with fear. The shadowed man began to grow flesh, revealing the loving, ghostly pale face of her boyfriend Sage. She tried to touch his face, but her hand went through a patch of freezing, ice cold air. "I love you, Lainey," she heard Sage whisper. "I love you too, Sage," Lainey said, smiling. Sage leaned over to kiss her. As soon as his icy lips touched hers, he disappeared. It took her a few seconds to remember why he was visiting her now, at this day and time. She suddenly remembered - it was the year anniversary of his death; same date, same time. She wiped a tear coming from her eye away, then curled up where Sage was sitting, and finally fell asleep.
