Yûri: But, the Umeokaka Rice Burgers are so delicious here, they are.

        [Black clouds appear and block out the sun. The birds stop chirping and everyone halts in their tracks to look at the sky.]

Shiori: Soooomehooowww I haaaave a reeeeaaalllly baaaad feeelinnnng abouuuut thiiiisss.......

       [A crack of lightning strikes a nearby tower.]

Yuna: Aaaaah! L- Lightning!

Yuna: By gosh, whose voice is that!?

        [A huge, dark image of a woman in a cloak appears. We can't see her face, but her eyes glow.]

Yuna: W-- what is that? Some kind of event?

Yûri: That is the biggest person ever, it is...

???: Hahahahaha... foolish humans, listen well!
???: Now, from this time forth, the Earth is under the rule of the Machine Empire!
???: You all will endure pain as this entire planet is destroyed!

Yûri: Looks like the bad guy in a hero show, it does!

Yuna: Which means... maybe Polylina-sama will pop up! Wooo...

        [Elnar swoops down from the sky and halts before Yuna.]

Elnar: Yuna! Yuna!

Yuna: Elnar! What's so urgent?

Elnar: I sensed awesome dark power, so I flew here at once!

Yuna: Eh!? So, that's--!!

???: Ha ha ha ha ha... I'll begin by destroying this town.
???: Go forth, Machine Soldiers!

        [A ton of robots appear out of nowhere and commence random violence. Some of them have four arms that end in machine guns; others have a short-range laser weapon; still others have missile launchers for arms. They begin blowing up cars, bulidings, and people.]

Elnar: Oh no! The Machine Soldiers are attacking the people of the town!

Yuna: M-- Machine Soldiers? Why? Where in the world did they come from?

        OPTIONS: [Fight!] or [{XX} Yûri].

Yuna: Yûri-chan! Shiori-chan! Let's help her!

Yûri: I'm so happy you are all okay, I am!

Yuna: But... why in the world were those soldiers in Neo-Tokyo?

???: Hohohohoho... just as I expected of the Savior of Light. But only because you defeated the Three Sisters of {XXXX}.

Yuna: Three sisters... could it be-- Ayako-chan's!? Who in the world are you!?

???: I am the Machine Empress. I was born in a far-away place of darkness to journey here and suppress this whole planet.

Yuna: Machine Empress... then, you are Darkness's--!?

M. Empress:Heheh, who knows...? However, the climax of your pathetic fight will be with me...
M. Empress:Indeed, it will be a grave mistake if your abilities are poor...

Yuna: W... what did you say!?

Yûri: Yûri is scared, she is...

M. Empress:Kagurazaka Yuna... now the fight passes into your little hands.
M. Empress:You runts will be but sickening lap dogs before my scientific might. Hohohohoho....
M. Empress:Hahahahaha...!

        [The Machine Empress' image disappears, though the sky remains dark. Sirens can be heard all over the city and smoke wafts up from scattered fires.]

Yuna: W... what was that!? Elnar, was she from the Forces of Darkness?

Elnar: I don't know... But, I felt a tremendous evil power...

Yuna: What in the world should we do now?

        [Save? YES/NO]

        [Yûri is crying.]

Yûri: Sniffle... waah, waah, it's been wrecked, it haaaas...

Yuna: Yûri... you care so much about the Earth...

Yûri: My Ootoro Rice Burger... I lost it somewhere before I was done eating it, I did!

Yuna: Daaaah!

Yûri: May it rest in peace...

Yuna: A-- anyway, Elnar, is the rest of the city okay?

Elnar: Let's see... things just got worse. Look there!

        [They look at a big television on the side of a building. It shows live pictures of other parts of the city, all of them brimming with robots chasing people.]

Yuna: What is this!? The city can't be that full of robots!?

Elnar: They all just suddenly appeared out of nowhere...
Elnar: And now they just finished taking control of Neo-Tokyo!

Yuna: Oh noooo!

        [Yûri notices something.]

Yûri: Aaah! This is serious, it is!!

Yuna: What is it, Yûri!

Yûri: Bunkin' Donuts is under attack!
Yûri: So is Mosho's Gyoza and Invulnerable Cakes!

Elnar: Anyway, let's go there right away!

        [ Tactical mode. Yuna's neighborhood is a mess, with the street partially torn up and some houses caved in. Sirens can be heard nearby. Yuna's mama and papa are standing in her front yard; Papa has a baseball bat and Mama is cowering behind him. In the street, on the other side of a little fence, a bunch of Robot Soldiers are milling about. One steps toward them.]

Papa: Hey, what are you guys doing...?

Mama: Eeeeeeeek!

        [Yuna and the gang come running up the street.]

Elnar: Yuna! Look at that!

Yuna: Oh no! They're going to get Mama and Papa!

        [Battle. Ostensibly your mission is to take out all the robots before they reach Mama & Papa, but I think there may be a secret bonus to be gotten here too. Remember that little girl who lost Taro-chan (her dog) in the first OAV? Well, if you look at the other end of the street (where normally you wouldn't have to go) you'll see that she's standing there crying with a little "HELP" bubble over her head. I'm thinking if you go up there maybe something special will happen.]

Yuna: Mama, Papa, you aren't hurt are you?

Papa: We're fine, Yuna. But you should have told us you were filming a movie here today. Right, Mama?

Mama: Yes, really... Oh, Yuna, take this with you.

        [She gives you an onigiri (HP-replenishing item).]

Yuna: Thank you! Mama, Papa!
Yuna: If the enemy got all the way to Mama and Papa... I'm worried about everyone at school...
Yuna: Let's head there right away!

Yûri: Yes, I say!

Papa: Be home before dark...!

        [Travel screen - As soon as you appear, a huge cone-shaped starship warps in and hovers above you.]

Ryudia: Feeling-well-Yuna?

Yuna: R-- Ryudia-san! Aah, it's been a long time! Are you well!?

Ryudia: Yeah... This-time-I-can't-participate-in-the-battle-but-there-is-one-thing-I-can-do!
Ryudia: Leave-it-to-me-to-supply-the-items! That-and-I-will-look-for-our-allies-in-faroff-places!
Ryudia: Rely-on-me-to-bring-you-items-and-friends-I-find-right-away!!

        [Travel - The only place you can go at this point is Yuna's school.]

        [At the school. Robots are storming the doorway, but just as they get to it, Mai and Erica burst out in their battlesuits and trash the ones in front. However, several more drop in on the lawn.]

Erika: More enemies appeared?

Mai: Again and again it can't-be-can't-be... it jus cannot-be!

        [Yuna and the gang arrive at the end of the walkway.]

Elnar: Yuna! The school is overflowing with Machine Soldiers!

Yuna: Ah! That's Erica-chan and Mai-chan!
Yuna: We've got to save them right away!

Yûri: Yûri will help too, she will!

        [BATTLE - Trash all the enemy soldiers. Mai and Erica fight automatically. Mission Clear - exit Tactical Mode.]

Erika: Yuna! I knew you would come for sure!

Yuna: Yep, sorry I was late! Erica-chan... Mai-chan...

Mai: Hmph! It didn't really matter to me whether you came or not...
Mai: I coulda super-duper-duper whooped them things all by myself!

Erika: Oh my, teacher, as a student I seek your guidance:
Erika: Who was it that was making noises like "Eek, Eek?"

Mai: Eh--! I, I didn't say "Eek!" You rude child!

Shiori: Weeellll... booooth of youuuuu.... aaare soooo haappppy insiiiide.........

Mai: Look at what you're saying, kid!

Elnar: A-- Anyway, now that we've found both Mai and Erica, let's meet and form a plan in the classroom!

        [In the classroom...]

Elnar: Given the number of enemy soldiers, I figure we will not be able to overpower them with our current number of allies. We just don't have enough firepower!

Mai: We're fine! Now now, all by myself I can take on as man-E soldierz as U want, from 104 to 1,004...

Elnar: That's M-possible! Anyway, now if we don't collect more colleagues...

Yuna: You say "collect our colleagues" but we don't even know where they are... I thought we would meet them all if we came to the school...

Elnar: Erica... where are all the Erica 7 right now?

Erika: At the moment they're busy at their own clubs, so they're doing extracurricular activities...

        [On the classroom TV, the audience at the station is being shot at by Machine Soldiers. A blonde-haired girl with a spotlight laser is fighting back against the robots.]

Yuna: Oh no... the fangirls have been captured!

Yûri: Aah! Miki-san is fighting, she is!

Yuna: We must go save them!

Elnar: Wait, Yuna! We don't know if it's a trap!

Yuna: But... but, I'm going! They're all my precious friends!

Mai: Phew... I guess it can't be helped.
Mai: This mighty Mai of Roppongi will cooperate... appreciate it, Yuna!

Yuna: Mai-chan... thank you!

        [Travel - Go to the TV Station.]

        [Yuna arrives ahead of the others. In front of the stage are a couple fans, tied up and struggling.]

Yuna: Ah... those fans on the floor!
Yuna: I must save them right away!

        [Yuna runs to help them, but they turn out to be Machine Soldiers in disguise. The others arrive just as they shed their disguises and advance on Yuna.]

Elnar: Just as I thought, an enemy trap!

        [A girl in red battle armor appears on the stage. Her suit has six gold appendages on the back that look like claws with the thickness of ribbons.]

???: Welcome, Yuna Kagurazaka!

Yuna: Who in the world... The fans! Where are they!?

???: Heheheheh... those things didn't exist in the first place!
???: You can't run away now... this place will be your grave!

Yuna: That's not going to happen!

???: Hmph... this is all pointless. I won't be staying with you any longer, but I would hate to be inhospitable so I'll bring you some company...

        [Soldiers pop up all around.]

???: Soldiers, I'll leave the rest to you.

        [She disappears.]

        [Partial battle - After you kill a few robots, two appear on the stage holding Miki hostage.]

Yuna: Eh!? That's Miki-chan!

Elnar: How sneaky! We can't do anything like this!

Miki: Do not worry about me; defeat those things!

???: Hold it right there!

        [A rose flies in and sticks in the floor; the Soldiers holding Miki scatter to either side. Superhero entrance music cues up.]

Polylina: The shadow of evil approaches a delicate flower... nevertheless I shall scatter it!
Polylina: The masked maiden, Polylina! For love and togetherness, I am here!!

        [Polylina teleports onto the tops of some columns, which fall and crush the two Machine Soldiers.]

Yuna: Eek! Polylina-sama!

Miki: Thank you... you saved me!

Yuna: I knew it... Polylina-sama and I are connected by the invisible red thread of love!

Polylina: Daaagh--
Polylina: Now is not the time for that! Fight! Hurry!

        [With Polylina and Miki's help, wipe out the rest of the Machine Soldiers. Mission Clear, exit Tactical Mode.]

        [Yuna runs and dives through the air and wraps herself around Polylina.]

Yuna: Polylina-samaaaa!

Polylina: Y- Yuna, just a...

        [Yuna is seeing things; she sees herself and Polylina looking into each other's eyes with flower petals and rosy lighting all around.]

Yuna: Polylina-sama... Oh my, staring straight ahead...
Yuna: In love, I'm being held by your pretty arms... I...

        [We leave Yuna's dream world and see that she's got her arms wrapped around herself, obviously having naughty fantasies of some sort.]

Yuna: Ah... Oh no, don't do that...

Polylina: Ugh... excuse me, but...

Elnar: This is not the time to be doing that, Yuna!

Yûri: That is right! Now is when Yûri and Yuna should be making supper, it is!

Mai: WHAT are you saying!? Now's when you should concentrate on your studies, which you've been neglecting all day; hurry up and get on with it!

Elnar: Th-- that's not right either, I don't think...

Polylina: M-- moving on...
Polylina: I'm glad Miki is safe. You're unhurt?

Miki: Yeah... halfway through rehearsal for the show, I was caught in an instant... it was careless...

Polylina: Miki... don't worry about that.

        [The room shakes; Yuna is finally jolted out of her daydream.]

Yuna: Wha-- what was that just now!?

Elnar: Yuna, trouble! I'm detecting a massive high-energy reaction from low orbit!

Polylina: Everyone, let's go!

The entire landscape is shaking as the clouds swirl and begin to part. Polylina: Here it comes! A truly massive bulb-shaped starship bursts through the clouds and smashes into the ground, completely obliterating a large island in Tokyo Bay and half the bridge leading to it.

Yuna: W, what in the world is THAT!?

Yûri: That's a reeeeeally big pot, it is!

        [The towering dark image appears again.]

M. Empress: Hohohohoho...

Elnar: The Machine Empress!

M. Empress: Oh Yuna... well done on your meaningless battle.

Yuna: Meaningless battle... that's not true!

M. Empress: Really, is that so?

Miki: Look!

        [External lights on the crashed object begin blinking and the sounds of mechanical operation can be heard.]

Mai: It activated!

M. Empress: Hohohoho... I have already started my kingdom with this Planet-Destroying Missile, "Teimfou."
M. Empress: When the core of the Earth is crushed, all pathetic humans will be blown off the face of the planet!

Yuna: No... No way... such a thing-- we won't allow it!

M. Empress: Hunh...? That sounds interesting... put it in writing and I'll have it read to me.
M. Empress: Hahahahaha....

        [She disappears again.]

Polylina: This matter has gotten troublesome, hasn't it...

Elnar: With the amount of power in that Missile, if it explodes in the Earth's core, humanity will come to an end for sure...

Yuna: Guys, what should we do!?

Mai: There's no decision to be made! Somehow or other we've gotta stop that thing!

Yûri: That's right, it is! If we don't hurry, Yûri won't be able to eat another tasty meal!

Elnar: Anyway, if we analyze the weaknesses of the Missile, we might be able to come up with something!

Shiori: Weeeelll thennnnn... innn thaaat caaaase..... wee should immmediatellllyyyyy--

Mai: Yeah yeah, let's go folks!

        [Travel - Go to the end of the bridge where it meets the Teimfou.]

Yuna: How incredibly huge...

Shiori: Yeeeeah... It's soooo biiiig.... howww geeennnnnneeeerrrrous of theeeeeeeemmmmmmm....

        [Mai picks up a rock.]

Mai: What's up with this thing?

        [She throws it at Teimfou. It bounces harmlessly off the hull but an alarm goes off, making everyone jump. A bunch of soldiers pop up.]

Yuna: Mai-chan, why did you do such an unneccessary thing??

Mai: A, are you saying it's my fault!?

Shiori: She annnoooyed the goooodd.... sooo it jinxed herrr....

Yûri: Is a "jinx" yummy to eat?

Elnar: Everyone, this is not the time for things like that! Now is when you should be trouncing the enemy!

        [Partial battle - after you destroy a few enemy units, a green-haired girl in more functional-looking armor leaps into the fray. She has her hair in Chinese buns and she carries a great big spear. She dices two robots to pieces in one blow.]

Lemi: Yaa, I sorry I behind schedule! I have this sort of timing because I had to repair broken shop.

Yuna: Lemi-chan! I'm glad you're safe!

Lemi: It not that easy to do Lemi in! I make up for lost time now!

        [Finish the battle - Lemi kicks butt. :) Mission Clear, exit Tactical Mode.]

Polylina: All the enemy soldiers have been crushed! Now we just have to stop this thing!

        [The red-armored baddie from the TV Station appears in front of Teimfou.]

???: How have you been, people of Earth?

Yuna: Hey, you appeared in the TV studio... what in the world are you?

???: I am a servant of the Machine Empress. One of the "Six Flower Warriors," Juifua!

Yuna: Juifua...? Six Flower Warriors?

Mai: Whatever that is, these soldiers just now weren't acting on their own, were they?

        [Juifua holds up a little device with a yin-yang on it.]

Juifua: Do you know what this is? It's a Control Chip that allows you to operate Teimfou remotely...
Juifua: If you had this, you would have no trouble stopping Teimfou... So? You want it?

Yuna (looking puzzled): You'll give it to us?

        {At this point the story changes slightly depending on a choice you made earlier. If you've already been to Yuna's neighborhood (i.e. you picked "Mama & Papa are..." instead of "Everyone at school is...") you'll fight a different (harder) final battle with Juifua; skip down there.}

Juifua: Of course... but only if you can catch me!

        [She zooms off.]

Yuna: Aah, wait!

        [She runs off after her.]

Polylina: No way! Yuna! There's no way that kind of enemy will hand it to you without a scratch!

        [Yuna keeps running.]

Yûri: Please wait! Yuna-san, Yûri is coming too, she is!

        [Yûri runs off too.]

Polylina: Even Yûri...?

        [Travel - Juifua leads you to Yuna's neighborhood.]

Yuna: Ah, isn't this somewhere near my house?

Juifua: It is... How would you like to be absent from your own home for all slow eternity?

Yuna: Huh? What do you mean?

Juifua: You still haven't realized... you are truly a fool!

        [Machine Soldiers pop up at both ends of the street, this time with blue armor rather than gray.]

Yûri: Yuna-saaaan! We're surrounded, we are!

Yuna: This is......

Juifua: Well, Machine Soldiers! Dispose of them switfly!

        [The others arrive at the other end of the street.]

Polylina: Yuna and Yûri are flanked on both sides!
Polylina: We've got to save them, and fast!

        [Partial battle until you defeat Juifua. One of Juifua's attack phrases is "Kuuki Cutter." As near as I can tell, this is a bad English/Japanese pun. It sounds just like "Cookie Cutter" in English, but in Japanese "Kuuki" means "air" so it also could mean "Air Cutter." I forget her other attack phrase.]

        {Skip down past the harder version of this battle.}

        {HARDER BATTLE (if you chose Mama & Papa earlier)}

Juifua: Yeah... if you can beat me then I'll think about giving it to you...

        [She teleports onto a ledge created by a protruding part of Teimfou, level with the road where everyone's standing. Suddenly an array of massive anti-warship cannons pop out below where she's standing. One of them charges and then fires a huge beam that sends everybody diving out of the way and scurrying around excitedly.]

Yuna: What the!?

Polylina: Everyone, be careful! Don't get caught in the beam's line of fire!

        [Juifua teleports back down to the road.]

Juifua: Can it really be this easy?
Juifua: This place will become your grave!

        [Battle. Your forces start out surrounded by a ring of Robot Soldiers. In addition, the Teimfou's cannons will continue firing in random order, nearly obliterating anything that's caught in their path. The key is to notice when one is charging up, guess its line of fire, and move everyone out of the way. If you're especially suave, you can take out mass enemies by luring them into the way. ^_^ Battle ends when you destroy Juifua.]

        {When you defeat Juifua (whichever battle you played)}

Juifua: Wh... what?

        [All remaining robots are destroyed - Misson Clear, exit Tactical Mode.]

        [Juifua is emitting sparks and looks generally trashed.]

Juifua: Rgh... It... it can't be!? To think that I lost...

Polylina: You underestimated us, didn't you!

Yuna: Nevermind that; give me your hand, we can't let you die!

Juifua: Hmph... idiot! Do you think I would allow you to save me?

Yuna: Oh, oh my... I just--

Juifua: The Machine Empire will never bend to the will of the humans... look here!

        [She crushes the Control Chip in one hand.]

Yuna: Aah!

Juifua: The Machine Empress is the ruler of space... Glory to the Machine Empire!! Hohohohoho... Hahahahahaaaa!

Polylina: Look out!!

        [Juifua self-destructs, leaving a little crater.]

Yuna: Oh no...

Polylina: These Mechanizans say they don't have hearts... but this enemy just now was different... be careful.

Lemi: But... What we do... way things are now, Earth doomed!

Miki: It seems that no matter what we do, we cannot find a method of stopping it...

???: It's no use... hohohoho...

Yuna: That voice is... the Machine Empress!

        [Our shady friend appears again.]

M. Empress: It's impossible to stop Teimfou......
M. Empress: If you're planning on destroying it by force, it will surely explode...

Polylina: What did you say!?

M. Empress: Now that the Control Chip is gone, there's no way it can be stopped by your hands.
M. Empress: It will be nice seeing the planet of you stupid humans reduced to rubble!! Hohohohoho... Hahahahahaa!

        [Having satisfied her ego trip, she disappears as usual.]

Yuna: She vanished...

Elnar: Yuna, I don't think the Machine Empress' story was a lie...
Elnar: If it's impossible to stop the Missile, then probably...

Yuna: It will explode, won't it...

Elnar: But, I don't think that Control Chip is the only control device for the Missile...
Elnar: If my hunch is correct, there is a main computer to control orbital adjustments, navigation and whatnot!

Yuna: Where!?

Elnar: The Missile had to have been launched from a base somewhere in space...
Elnar: If we go there, I think we can definitely stop it!!

Yuna: I understand, Elnar! For the sake of protecting the people of the Earth... Let's go!

Shiori: Buuuuut....

        [In Polylina's secret base, a ship is elevated to the launch deck. The girls are standing on the catwalk above it.]

Yuna: Whooooa! What a big ship! What's its name?

Polylina: I haven't decided yet...

Yuna: Really? ...Well, let's call it the "Element Fairy!"

Polylina: Element Fairy... that's fine by me, but what does it mean?

        [Yuna has a sad look on her face.]

Yuna: Well... it means that my fairy-like friend will always be with me... right?

        [She looks down at Ayako's core.]

Mai: Alright, guys! Let's jet right away!

Yûri: Then, Yûri will bring her meal!!

A forested hillside splits in half and slowly opens to reveal a huge tunnel leading back into the hill. At the other end of the tunnel, the Element Fairy is prepped for launch by several robotic arms. The ship is loaded onto an electromagnetic catapult and the arms slide away. Inside, Polylina is at the control console and Milky (her robotic cat / weapon) is sticking out of a socket in the panel next to her a la R2D2. Polylina: Cleared for launch! Milky? Milky: Meow! A blast shield pops up behind the Fairy's main engines. They blaze to life with a brilliant flare and the catapult activates, hurtling the ship down the tube. We see Yûri eating, Yuna looking determined, Polylina checking the instruments and Shiori napping in a hammock. The lights spaced out along the length of the launch ramp light up their faces, going by faster and faster as the Fairy gains momentum. Just before the end of the ramp, explosive charges separate the catapult from the ship. The Fairy shoots out into the open air and begins climbing toward the stratosphere with the Teimfou visible down below it. As the ship leaves the atmosphere, Yuna narrates. Yuna: And thus we began our journey to save the Earth. Everyone on Earth, wait for us, okay? Although, I am a bit uneasy...
