Task 4

The Warlord of Deception's room was dark. Sage was afraid to go into the room because the warlord was very fond of spiders. Sage turned on the light with a nervous flick. All spiders were in their respective cases and the less dangerous one's were at home on their webs. There was no one in this room to give him a task.

Next he went to Sekhmet's room. The Warlord of Venom's room was a little neater than usual. All of the snakes were in their tanks. He saw a young boy with black hair arguing with what looked like a small blue dinosaur that could talk.

"Veemon, I know Kari likes me because uh, uh," the boy stuttered.

"Because what Davis?" asked the creature.

"Um, actually, I don't know why Veemon. I just do that's all,"at that moment the boy named Davis noticed Sage leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed.

"Are you the guy we're supposed to give a challenge to?" Davis asked.

"Yeah. My name is Sage."

"Oh. Um, Veemon, what's the challenge supposed to be?"

"Davis, you're supposed to come up with that," Veemon said.

"I am? Oh yeah, I am," Davis said, pretending to know what he was doing.

"So Davis, what's the task?" Veemon asked. The poor little creature expected his digidestined partner to know everything.

"Hm, well, since you're my buddy, I'll let you come up with it Veemon," Davis said.

Davis and Veemon argued like this for a while until Sage interrupted them.

"Excuse me, but I don't have all night."

"Oh, okay. Um, why don't you...run around this house fifty times," Davis said.

"Fifty times? Do you realize how huge this place is?" asked Sage.

"No," Davis and Veemon chorused. Sage sighed and reluctantly left to begin his laps.

Sage jogged and panted for what seemed like hours but in reality was no more than 20 minutes. On his last lap he stopped at the porch where he met Davis and Veemon.

"That was amazing. I can't even run that fast, and I play soccer," Davis commented in amazement. "I guess I have to give you this thing now," Davis pulled out a yellow-mettallic "y".

"Thanks," said Sage.

"No problem," replied Davis. He and Veemon went back inside he house. Sage wondered where everyone went when his challenge was over. He wanted to follow Davis and find out but he thought it more important to finish his tasks before sun-up.
