Sage began to climb the porch steps when he heard what sounded like someone landing on the dirt.
"Stand and fight!" Sage turned around swiftly. His eyes met the dead, pupiless glance of a ninja clad in yellow and black.
"Who, or what are you?" asked Sage, regretting his question as soon as it came out of his mouth. He wasn't really sure that he wanted to know the answer.
"I am Scorpion the giver of the fifth task," the ninja answered.
"I guess I have to fight you," Sage said, his Kanji ball was already in his hand. With a slight nod Scorpion confirmed Sage's guess.
"Ready," said the ninja.
Sage armored up as Scorpion took a fighting stance. The colored silk brought courage and wisdom to the bearer of Halo. The transformation almost surprised Scorpion. Almost.
"Fight!" the ninja dissapeared in a visible ripple of the air. Sage jumped in surprise that was equal to the pain in his head as he was punched from behind.
Okay, how did he do that? Sage asked himself. He was on his guard now, almost sensing what Scorpion would do next. Sage turned to face his opponent. The ninja kicked high in a roundhouse that was meant to connect with Sage's face. Sage grabbed Scorpion's leg and flipped the ninja, sending a blur of yellow tumbling into the dirt.
Scorpion puffed a breath of air toward the ground that he was now facing; a cloud of dust arose as the ninja jumped to his feet. Sage was growing impatient and the night hours were growing thin.
Scorpion stood and, at first, looked as though he were through with the fight. With a sudden move of his arm a slit opened in his palm and out came a spear, attached to him by a long cord. The spear headed straight for Sage's throat! Sage ducked but his timing was slightly off. Luckily the spear only hit his helmet. Scorpion withdrew his spear.
Scorpion's hand now went to his mask. Sage wondered what the ninja was up to. The ninja ripped away the mask and instead of a human face was a fleshless human skull with flaming eyes. Sage's hand went to his no-datchi. Scorpion's mouth opened and he took a deep breath. Scorpion exhaled and a wave of fire swept toward Sage. At the same moment the words, "THUNDER BOLT CUT!" could be heard. A ray violent energy overtook the flame and rushed toward Scorpion. When the dust cleared the ninja was nowhere to be seen. Sage could see something shiny on the ground; it was a black metal "P".
