One basically sound but grubby 13/60 engine or so I thought.
The plan was to do the bare minimum as the engine had been running fine before its lay up.
With that in mind I had the valves and guides done to utilise unleaded petrol but everything else looked fine. In fact this was reconditioned not long before I bought the car. What I didnt understand before was that as is common apparently my original 1360 Herald engine had been replaced with essentialy a Spitfire 1300 one. This caused me some issues including buying the wrong head gasket.
Looking good , dont underestimate the weight of this engine and box. I did and the friend who helped me lift it in now wears a surgical support.
Mechanicals back where they belong and taking up a lot less space in my garage. Now on to the bodywork stage. This is where I really do have a steep learning curve, never one to have much patience I have been told its all about preperation.........thats a shame !
