December 6, 2004 - Monday

Rainy and a bit cool.

An interesting day. I slept in really, really late and then got up. I did some computer stuff and then Fumihiko came back. He had gone to the doctors about his back again.

We went out for lunch today. We went to Simon, a French restaurant that we don't go to very much these days. I had salmon and Fumihiko had chicken. We were both very pleased with our meals. Yum.

After lunch we took my computer card to be printed and then went to the post office to get my mail. A friend had returned my book. Yay. Then, as we didn't have anything to do for a while, Fumihiko suggested getting new cell phones. So, we did! It was quite a long process, complicated by the fact that I wanted a phone that was billingual and Fumihiko wanted to have both bills come out of his account. We couldn't do it because we didn't have proof that we were married with us! However, I'm now the owner of a spiffy new pink keitei, with a camera in it. In a couple of days I'll be able to send email with it too. Fumihiko's is navy and black. I don't know what he's going to do, he's had the old one so long that I don't see anyone else with one that looks like it.

We went to the mall and wasted some time at the amusement center. I also bought some new Christmas tree lights, and picked up a few brochures for foreign and domestic destinations. I'm making plans for New Years! Hopefully.

We came back to Tsuruoka and went to Gyu-oh for dinner. And, dear readers, I'm a bit embarrassed to say this but I just lost it. Fumihiko did his usual reading of the entire menu for me, which I don't need, and I tried to get him to stop. He got angry at me and then basically we ordered separate foods from the menu. I ordered yakiniku and he had bibinba, Korean food. We barely spoke to each other during the meal. I've been so stressed out about work and my health isn't that great these days, so I just couldn't make nice dinner conversation. By the end of the meal he was asking me to have some salad, which I didn't want anyway, and I was practically crying.

Out in the car afterwards I told him that it was my work situation. It is mostly. I've always been self-supporting, since I was 18, and next week I'll have to resign from my job. I know that Fumihiko won't let me starve, but on the other hand, I don't want to lose my independence. That's something that I've always had. He said he understood, and I think he does, a bit anyway.

We bought more groceries and then came home to play with our phones. I finished setting up the tree, I put the new string of lights on it. It looks pretty cool. Then we played with our keiteis! I downloaded the manual but I haven't read it yet. It's so long! ARGH!

Fumihiko went out to get tape (for hanging up Christmas cards) and he also brought back some lovely strawberries. So, for the second night in a row, we had strawberries and cream. Yum.

That's about it. We're both back to work tomorrow...wish us luck!

Night night.
