Clear and cool.
What a day! My voice is shot, but then, four hours of karaoke will do that. Oh, I'm starting at the ending again. Back to the beginning!
This morning Fumihiko and I slept in very, very late and it was great. The only bad thing was the yucky dream that I had that woke me up. I dreamt that men were getting their hands cut off in front of me, a guy was hitting their wrists with a hammer to break the bones and then someone else would saw off the hand. Yuck. Weird dream. Then, in the dream it was MY turn. I protested and said I didn't want it to happen to me, but they insisted. There was a commotion ahead of me, some guy fainted I think, and in the confusion I ran away. I was running outside and that's when I woke up. I have no idea what that means. I think it was just plain old weird!
We went out for brunch to the Daiichi Hotel. It was okay, not bad, not awful. Then I hacked around the hundred yen shop, bought some fake flowers for the genkan, and then came home.
At home I did laundry and tried to move my new chest of drawers into a good place in "my" room. Hmm. I discovered that there was mould on the outside of my bookcase, so I was not best pleased. Fumihiko, bless his heart, got me some mould cleaner so I'll try it out sometime.
We went out after that. I wanted to go to a store near our apartment. They're kind of like a SAAN store in Canada. Not too expensive, but sometimes they have really nice stuff. Well, it's Christmas time, or almost, so I'm looking for good presents. I got some!
Then I suggested that we go to Homac, a hardware store. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but I like looking around, and I know that Fumihiko does too. We went there and I picked up a few things like cleaners and closet dryers. Some of my bedding in the closet smells really bad so I hope this stuff helps that! I spotted Fumihiko looking carefully at something. He was looking at fishing gear. He was eying a pair of chest high waders, boots with pants attached. He said he'd get them later, but I said if he liked I could get them for his birthday present! He said okay, so that's what I did. He doesn't know what his other present is yet though!
We decided to have dinner at our favourite restaurant in Mikawa, but when we got there it was closed. It's a great restaurant, but sometimes they close early if they don't have customers. Sigh. So, we decided to go to Shimi's restaurant in Tsuruoka. We went there and discovered that most of my co-workers were there, and some past co-workers too! I wasn't too happy in a way, I just wanted to eat dinner with my hubby, but they all visited us for a while. It actually was nice to talk to them, especially since I don't get to see many of them regularly.
Our dinner was great. Shimi knows about my diet so she cooked some of the dishes without sugar for me, and got her husband to give me sashimi instead of sushi. What a sweetie! Thank you Shimi!
After dinner I was all set to come home, but Fumihiko suggested karaoke. Well, we went. We went to the new place again, Manekineko, and got their free time deal. That meant we could stay as long as we liked (until 5 am)! Well, we sang a lot. I sang tons of stuff. Some of my favourites were Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show, Be Our Guest, Little Red Corvette, Fever and Wherever You Will Go. However, my absolute favourite song tonight was at the end when my voice was getting hoarse and husky (so perfect for this song!) Total Eclipse of the Heart. There was really good harmony and back up voices on the track, so I sounded a lot better than usual.
Just before 2am we decided to call it a day. Fumihiko's back is bothering him again, but he held up quite well at karaoke, especially for someone who doesn't really like it. I was a bit snide about him last night, but he came through for me tonight. Sorry about that dear.
We're at home now and he's taking his bath. Tomorrow we have a few plans, but nothing certain yet. I'm not sure when we'll get up to be honest! Might be a bit difficult to get up!
Tune in tomorrow to find out the next installment in my crazy life in Japan! Night night!
