Cloudy and rainy all day.
Well, despite the weather and my usual weekend misgivings, I had a great day. I went to bed very late last night, somewhere about 3:30 am. Sigh. I didn't really wake up until 10:40ish. I noticed that the bedroom door was shut, which meant that Fumihiko had been up for a while. I thought I was awake for keeps then, but the next time I looked at the clock it was after 11 and I could hear Sylvester Stallone in my living room. That meant that Fumihiko was watching a Rocky movie! I dragged myself out of bed and gave him a big kiss. He'd gone out while I was sleeping and gotten his hair cut, so once again I'm married to the flat-headed Frankenstein! However, it's not as short as they sometimes make it, so it's actually not that bad.
I made the bed and got dressed. Then my gorgeous hubby plied me with coffee and suggested going out to eat. I suggested he watch the rest of the movie! So, we did. We watched Rocky 2. It was okay. At the end it got a bit brutal with the fighting, but overall it was a good if schmaltzy story.
Lunch was Jiro at Fumihiko's suggestion. It was a good choice. The place was packed but we managed to get a table. I had my favourite, pork saute with garlic oil. For anyone that I haven't raved about this stuff before, it's two pork chops smothered in onions fried (I think) in garlic oil. Yum. So good.
After lunch I asked what we should do next and Fumihiko suggested going to see a LeoPalace office. No, we're NOT thinking of moving, it might be a good place for me to start a school. We went to the office, the guy explained a few things about the apartments to hubby dearest, but we couldn't go and see one today as the office was busy. We made an appointment to come back and see one on Monday morning. (Yes, I know, morning....call me crazy!)
It was raining really hard then so we debated about what to do. Fumihiko did suggest karaoke, but I didn't feel much like it. Instead we decided to go to the mall and see a movie. When we got to the mall I mentioned that I'd love to see Narnia again, and Fumihiko said he would too. He's in the middle of reading the novel in Japanese. We checked the time schedule. There were only two new movies in English out and the times weren't good, but Narnia was starting in 15 minutes. So, guess what we saw? Right. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Excellent!
After the movie, Fumihiko's back was really bad (the weather wasn't helping it any) so he went for a massage. That meant I was free to do one of my favourite things....go shopping. Yeah. Well, I tried, I really did! I looked at the clothes in Jusco and tried on a lot of tops, but even though they all fitted, I didn't buy any of them. Many of the shirts were fitted on the bottom, so they emphasised my bottom, and that's just not what I want! I could have taken off the band at the bottom, but I don't have a sewing machine so refinishing them would be hard. And the one thing that I thought was kind of cute was sleeveless and I never wear sleeveless shirts in public, so why bother. Sigh. Oh well. Still, it was fun trying them on. I don't think I've done that in a while.
I picked up my hubby after the massage and we decided to get a drink at Mr. Donuts. After that, dinner. But where? I wanted to go and visit the bookstore, but most eating places that we go to are away from the mall. So, we tried a new place.
In the Across Plaza (across from the mall--original name, ne?) there was a Gengis Khan restaurant. We'd never been there, so we decided to try it out. It was really good. We had lamb that we cooked on a hotplate, along with some veggies cooked in soup around the hotplate, a salad and ramen for Fumihiko. Everything I had was great, and we really enjoyed it. We will be going back there I'm sure. Fumihiko started talking about going back to Sapporo. When we were there last year we had some great Gengis Khan in a little out of the way place. People were waiting outside for hours, but it was worth it!
After dinner, we went to the bookstore. I'm looking for Ptolomy's Gate (Spelling??) by Jonathan Stroud. It's the 3rd novel in trilogy about a magician and his demon in a magical London. It's out in Japanese, so I don't know why I can't find it in English. It's not fair. Oh, maybe I should try on Amazon. Why didn't I think of that before? Okay, later!
We came back to Tsuruoka, visited the grocery store and then came home. We had a lovely evening in, Fumihiko made some coffee and he had a beer and more ramen. He's off sleeping now. He has to work in the morning and needs his beauty sleep. Poor guy is very tired and very busy.
Anyway, today was a really great day. I wish all my weekends were this good. Night.
