Cold with a bit more of the white stuff.
The weather here this winter has been awful. In past years we had a lot of snow too, but we'd usually get a break from it. There'd be a few days without snow and the temperature would go up and the snow would melt. Well, this year, there's only been one day without snow that I can remember. Back home, Edmonton is having high temperatures and not very much snow. Remind me again, why am I here?
This morning I actually got up before my last alarm. Yeah. I was so proud of myself. I refilled the kerosene in the heater (that wasn't why I got up!) and then did my email stuff.
I had a very low key day at home. A little before 4 I bundled up and walked to the closest bank machine to make a money transfer. It didn't work. I tried again. It still didn't work. I couldn't read the kanji and I couldn't even ask someone for help, so I gave up. I went to the grocery store and picked up a few things for making soup with. Tomorrow I'm going to make soup. Hopefully!
I tramped home and then did more computer stuff. When Fumihiko came home tonight, I tried to catch him at the door so that we could go back to the bank machine. He came in anyway. He just got changed and then we headed back to the bank machine.
He did exactly the same thing I did, and it didn't work. Yay! That meant I wasn't crazy, or insane, there was something else going on. He used the bankphone and we found out that the bank I was sending money to had changed its name, so my transfer card wouldn't work. Well, there was no way I'd be able to find that out alone. He got the name of the new bank and we did it, no problems.
We came home and tonight it was Fumihiko's turn to make dinner. He did a really good job too. We had deep fried eggplant, grilled gindara and salad.
I did dishes then we watched a bit of tv. Fumihiko did anyway, I listened to a couple of podcasts on my computer. After a bit he changed the channel and asked me if I knew the movie. Well, of course I did. Lawrence of Arabia, in all its glory. We ended up watching the rest of it. Even though I'd seen it all before, I couldn't remember a lot of it. I was thinking as I watched it that modern films just don't treat the audience like they are intelligent people. There was a lot of unexplained historical things in LoA, but Lean was making a movie for people who read and would have studied this period.
After the movie, well, not much. Fumihiko is snoozing on the couch, I'm back to my computer. Oh, I've finished half of the squares I need for my next big granny square. Yay me. 8 more to go, then I'll have 2 big squares.
Night night.
