January 10, 2006 - Tuesday

Cold, a bit of snow at night.

An interesting night. Just before I went to bed (at an almost reasonable time!) I discovered that a David Suchet Poirot movie was on. Death on the Nile. Yum. I watched about an hour of it until Fumihiko finished his bath and then I taped the rest and went to bed. I also discovered as I turned off the heater that the tank was empty. There was probably only fumes in there.

In the morning, I got up before my alarm. More than 45 minutes before my alarm! I filled up the kerosene tank, my favourite thing in the world to do. I started the heater and then I wiped down the window. The windows were soaking wet and the tracks for the balcony windows were a little frozen. I thought getting the water out of there was a good idea. So, I did that.

After I finished, I poured myself some of Fumihiko's coffee and sat down at my computer. That's where I spent most of my day, except I did watch the end of the Poirot movie. (The butler didn't do it!) I was late showering and making my lunch, so when I thought about going to city hall, I didn't.

I did do one thing that I wanted to though. I called the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo to get a new passport application form. Yay me. There was no answer so I had to leave a message. Good thing it's not an emergency.

Fumihiko came home a bit after 6. I was watching the news in Japanese. Watching but not always understanding. Because of the train derailment on Christmas day they've had to run buses between Sakata and Tsuruoka. Apparently it's causing problems for the students who have to take tests.

We went out for dinner. First though, we picked up more kerosene. When I was a single girl I used to have about 4 tanks for kerosene, now that I'm an old married lady, we only have two. Funny huh?

Tonight's dining was at Moku-Moku. It was actually quite nice tonight. My steak was fine, not tough at all. Fumihiko had the mustard pork saute, it looked nice too.

After dinner I suggested going to Mr. Donuts to drink some of their lovely cafe au lait. So, that's what we did. It was nice listening to 70's music (Andy Gibb ruled!) and just relaxing. There was a hailstorm while we were in the donut shop, but it didn't last that long. It did cover the road with a white layer again.

We came home and Fumihiko's been working hard ever since. He's got his word processor out and is typing away. I've been writing email and messing around on my computer for a while. It's quiet, but not unfriendly. Yay.

And that's my day. It was quite good.

Tomorrow I'm going to try and make it to City Hall. Or to S-Mall. I'm not sure. I should go and update my Alien Registration Card, but I have to get a new one next month anyway. I'm thinking with the rotten weather I might just keep waiting until next month. If I go to S-Mall I can buy a bus ticket for Saturday. I'm thinking of taking the bus to Sendai and meeting Fumihiko there after work. That way, I get some shopping time. I'm just a bit scared at the idea of taking the bus through the mountains. Still, Fumihiko has to drive through the mountains. I'm not sure which is scarier.

Anyway, I'll fill you in tomorrow night. Night night!
