Cold with a bit of snow in the afternoon.
I finally did it! I got out of the house by myself! Ha!
In the morning, I got up, not as early as yesterday, but still before my alarm. I made the bed and checked email and stuff. I watched my Hercule Poirot from last night, had brunch. I was on the computer when the doorbell rang. It was a man with a huge package in his arms. Wahoo! It was our Christmas presents from Vanessa.
I brought the box in, but didn't open it. I wanted to wait for Fumihiko. What I did do was grab my passport and head to city hall. I got there, but it wasn't that easy. I had to walk on main roads for part of the way. ON the main roads. There were no sidewalks, and the edge of the roads were covered with snow. Poor me.
I made it, and then got the ladies at city hall to update my Alien Card. Hurray. Next month I have to go back and get a new one. They explained it all to me, but actually I knew it already. Still. I'm legal again.
When I left city hall it started to snow again. Bleck. I came home a different way than I usually do and I nearly got lost! The snow made everything look very different, and I wasn't sure if I was where I thought I was. It all turned out fine. Luckily I have a good sense of direction!
I thought about going to the mall, but didn't. I went home, and grabbed our shovel. I didn't do very much, but I thought I'd make it easier for Fumihiko to park his car in his space. I cleared it of some snow, but then of course it started to snow AGAIN. I stopped and went inside.
I watched last night's The West Wing, and waited for Fumihiko. And waited. And waited. And waited. He didn't get home until almost 7. He was wiped. However, we decided to open our presents. The box was huge. We did very well. We got a lovely hanging candle holder, a photo cube, I got some socks and best of all, a Swiss Army Card. I saw Van's last year and loved it. I love gadgety-MacGyver type stuff. Fumihiko got a model of a Stealth aircraft. I think he's worried about putting it together, but it looks cool. We both felt much better afterwards. I think Fumihiko is really touched that my family remembers him at Christmas. He always feels bad that he wasn't more active in the buying of gifts for my sister and her family.
We decided to go out for dinner. We did, but made a brief and fruitless stop at the bus station. It was closed.
Tonight's dinner was care of Togashi, and it was very good. We had yakiniku, soup and salad. Yum.
We came home via the grocery store and then Fumihiko sat at his wordprocessor and I sat at my computer and we both messed around with them! I didn't do too much besides games, but Fumihiko is working...at least that's what he tells me.
Gotta go. The night is getting old and I should get more beauty sleep!
Night.
