Sunny but a little cool.
A much better day, thank goodness! Poor Fumihiko had a hard time sleeping last night. His back was sore so we got up and put some hot plasters on it. He seemed a little better after that.
In the morning I got up early for me, and checked my email and stuff. It's so wonderful to be able to do that again. Yay me!
My big project of the day was to upgrade my computer. (WARNING - technical geeky stuff ahead) I got it back with OS 10.2 on it, and I needed to upgrade it to 10.2.8. The problem was that it wouldn't work. I tried yesterday, but no go. Yesterday and today I checked out some of the Mac sites and found some advice that other people had received. I tried it out, and wow! It worked. What I did was repair my permissions, then detach all of the non-Mac stuff on my computer. Mouse, printer, and even the internet cord. THEN I tried to install OS 10.2.6. It worked. From there, I repaired permissions again and then did the install of OS 10.2.8. I was stunned to find out that it worked. Hurray for me. Hurray for Macs.
Things seem to be working a lot better. I'm so glad about that.
Fumihiko and I made up by email. I was going to send him a nice note, but he beat me to it. Still, it was nice.
While I was repairing permissions and all that neat stuff, I did a bit of housework. I swept the kitchen through to the genkan. It looks a lot neater. I also tidied up a very little. My big problem is my books. I don't know what to do with them. I'm running out of room.
When Fumihiko came home we spent time together and then we went out for dinner. We tried to go to our favourite yakiniku place but it was closed, so we went to another one that's close to our apartment. It was okay. We had a mixed plate of meat, some soup, nankotsu (chicken cartilage) and oolong tea. Fumihiko had some raimen (noodles). After dinner we left, quite full.
We bought groceries after dinner and then came home. The evenings movie was El Cid, so we put on a dvd instead. I requested It Happened One Night. It was great. I was a little afraid that Fumihiko wouldn't get it, but he did. He stayed awake and laughed more than I did. Claudette Colbert was so beautiful, and Clark Gable wasn't bad either. I liked the bit about "the Wall of Jericho".
After the movie I came back to my computer. I had to finish the upgrading, and Fumihiko got hungry so he made us a snack. He put some frozen shrimp, onions and some mushrooms in tinfoil with a bit of dashi and butter and roasted it. It was very good.
I think our evening is winding down now. Fumihiko turned off the TV just now and we've been discussing our coin jar. We have an instant coffee jar that's almost full of coins. I asked what we could do with that money, if we can take it to a bank or what. I hope we can spend it on something fun.
And that was my day. Finally, my computer seems almost back to normal. 'Ray! Gotta go, night.
