March 15, 2007 - Thursday

I said, "Juli --Don't go." But he wouldn't listen.

Snowy and cold in the morning, clear and cold at night.

Today turned out okay! I woke up a bit after hubby left and went and barred the door. If the inspection guys showed up before I got up, I didn't want them coming in my apartment. I put away a few more embarrassing things and went back to bed for a bit. I did get up quite early anyway, dressed and made the bed. I was just pouring my first cup of coffee when the doorbell rang. They were here. I let one of the guys in, and in true male fashion, he left the door wide open. I was a bit ticked, so a couple of minutes later I went back and closed it. What is it with men? It's WINTER. Anyway, no big whoop. The man inside used his big stick thingy to check out the various alarms or detectors. He almost forgot the one in the living room though, and I found out that there are detectors in the tatami room closets. After he left, I poured my coffee and got on with my day.

I was going to shower around 12, but realized that once my hair was wet I wouldn't want to go out, so I went out first. I went to the post office to get a revenue stamp. I have to renew my re-entry permit in my passport. I can leave but now that my old permit's expired, I can't come back. I got the stamp with no problems then came home. I showered then.

I didn't do a lot this afternoon. I read a lot of email, watched a bit of TV and then left for work. I was a bit late, but it wasn't a problem. The roads were in good condition so I made good time.

I popped into a drugstore to get a few things on the way to work. On the way out I saw a "dog lost" poster. This is where it gets sad. I couldn't read all of the poster because my kanji isn't good, but I thought the name of the dog sounded familiar. The name of the dog was printed on the poster, it looked like a child had done it. It was the same name as one of my student's dogs. I tried to memorize the telephone number to check, and when I got to the school, I realized that it most likely is my student's dog that's missing. I'm really sad for my student. Whenever the student has had to draw a friend's picture, the student always drew a picture of the dog.

My heater at the school wasn't on, so it was darn cold. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't seem to work as well as I'd like. Maybe it switches itself off after a couple of hours? I'm just not sure. I like the timer on function, but the timer off function works a bit too well. Anyway, my class went quite well. We talked about shopping English today. It was fun.

After finishing up, I called Fumihiko and he came and picked me up. He was supposed to be in charge of tonight's dinner, but didn't get anything, so we went out. He was tired from work, but did remember to get kerosene, so I forgave him! Our dinner was at Marumatsu. It was okay. Tonight was better than usual. After dinner, we bought a lot of groceries. I'm cooking tomorrow too. Ooh. Should be fun I hope.

We came home, and had a quiet evening. I made coffee and pre-ground tomorrow morning's coffee, and then we watched last weekend's Grey's Anatomy. We both enjoyed it. I had to help Fumihiko a bit with some of the situations, but really he does very well with US TV generally.

And that's about it for us. Tomorrow I have at least two classes, so my evening will be a bit busy. Not sure about the daytime though.

Got to go, Night!
