Cold, snowy, with a bit of hail-like snow...and an earthquake for good measure!
I had a mostly good day today. I got up and discovered that NHK seems to have changed around the order of their news reports. It has benefits, like getting to watch all of the news in English at once, but the downside is that I used the time inbetween the UK and US news to make the bed. Oh no.
I showered and then spent quite a while making soup. I steamed the veggies before I put them in my crockpot. Of course, I don't have to, but if I don't the veggies stay quite hard and I prefer a softer soup. As I was cooking I watched quite a bit of taped TV. I watched yesterday's Project Jay, then the weekend's CSI shows. I had lunch reasonably early too, as I had a class.
I decided that although it was snowy, I could likely bike to the school and I was right. I got there, but it was cold. The classroom was warm and my parking space was clear so no shovelling today. Yay. When my student came we had a great lesson. It was a very useful lesson today, we did telling time.
Afterwards I cleaned up, changed and left. I planned to go to another drugstore today. When I was almost at the main road a storm came up, and there were little balls of ice everywhere. They were hitting me, the road, it was not nice. In a couple of minutes the road was covered in them. I made it to the drugstore and as I was locking up my bicycle, I heard thunder.
When I finished in the drugstore, the world had become white. There was about an inch of snow on the ground and pedalling was okay, but nerve-wracking. I was cautious though and made it home safely.
I watched the first episode of Medium. I like the idea of the show, I'm just not sure if I like the star. Never been a fan of Patricia Arquette. Fumihiko came home during it, and after we took a nap and relaxed for a bit.
Around 8:30 dinner preparation went into higher gear. I spiced the soup, fried the chicken, and set the table. Fumihiko made coffee and put out the pickles he'd bought. We had a nice meal. The soup was okay, but I have the sneaking suspicion it'll be better tomorrow.
Hubby did the dishes then took a bath. He'd just gone off to take a bath when there was a small earthquake. I think it lasted for about 10 seconds, but it wasn't too bad. I turned on the TV looking for info, but I couldn't find any. Fumihiko said he didn't notice it. Hmm.
We watched a funny (and scary!) episode of Desperate Housewives tonight. Bree is in the mental hospital and met Kyle MacLachlan. (Hey, I'd check myself into a mental institution too if I could meet "Dale Cooper".) Susan and Mike are heating up again, but Carl just gifted her with a new house, Lynette found out Tom's secret, and it looks like Gabby and Carlos are going to have a big fight soon. The Betty Applewood story may be coming to a head soon too.
That's about it. We relaxed for most of the evening, except hubby did a spate of cleaning. There's some "inspectors" coming in the morning for the fire alarms or something so he cleaned for them. I'm cursing up a blue streak because I don't like the invasion of privacy. I've honestly never lived in a place where so many people want to come in to my apartment and do stuff. I hate it. It's one of the major drawbacks of this apartment.
After Hubby went to bed I put out the garbage and I set the coffeepot for his coffee in the morning. If I've got to let strangers into my house, I'd better have some coffee for myself!
That's it. I'm out of here! Night.
