June 8, 2007 - Friday

Muggy and finally rainy.

A pretty good day, all in all. I got up before I planned to (yay me), watched news in English on the TV (yay) and then had a bit of a lie down again on the bed. (boo) I didn't go to sleep though, and I was up before yesterday's time, so not much harm done.

Oh, and remember how I said I should staple hubby's cell phone to his ear yesterday? He went off to work and left his cell phone sitting in the charger this morning. I half expected him to come back and get it, but apparently he was busy today and couldn't. But, what if I'd needed him???

I did a bit of housework this morning....yes, really, don't take that tone with me! It wasn't much, but it was something.

Around 3 I watched a new for me show on Wowow....30 Days. The man who made Supersize Me (which I haven't seen) is doing a TV show where he spends 30 days doing something. This episode was him trying to live for 30 days on minimum wage. His girlfriend joined in too, so they were both working and found it almost impossible to get by. I was interested because this is a topic that I've seen on documentaries before. It was so hard for them. They both had to go to the hospital because they didn't have medical insurance and it cost them so much money that it was almost obscene....no, actually it was. He pointed out that he was charged $40 for an Ace bandage. Now, no offence to the Ace manufacturers, but huh? So glad I have health care...even if I complain about the quality and the system here.

I watched Cold Case again too. They are repeating the old shows, but I don't mind. I'm enjoying them the second time around too. Today was a bit scary one, about a man who hunted women in a park and then left their bodies behind. They couldn't "catch" him.

During the shows, I made and ate my lunch. I had my usual omelette, but with leftover stirfry. I took half of the omelette and wrapped it in a tortilla. It was great! After I did dishes, I had to head over to the school. I got there in about 8 minutes so I made great time. Yay me.

My class went quite well today. The student had been away last week, so I think he almost was happy to see me. He was on good behaviour today too. Hurray for that.

After our class finished, I cleaned up and set up for tomorrow's first class. I'd gone over the lesson yesterday, so today it was just a case of getting things out and ready. I'll be a bit busier tomorrow. I have 3 classes. Still, the students are usually great on Saturday, so it's not a bad thing!

Fumihiko and I went out to Bronco for dinner. We had the same thing, steak. It was nice, and the restaurant was busier than usual for the evening. We came home afterwards.

We spent a quiet evening together. It was pleasant. Hubby made coffee. Nothing exciting. When he went off to take his bath I checked the TV. I also rewound the tape. Last night I taped Wallace and Gromit - The Curse of the Wererabbit, and I hoped to watch it with hubby tonight. Actually, I planned to watch it by myself this afternoon, but when I taped it last night, he sat up in bed and said it sounded interesting, so decided to let him watch too. I had watched a few minutes because I didn't know if it was dubbed or subtitled. Luckily for me it was subtitled. We watched it tonight and it was a hoot. Very gentle humor, but every now and then there'd be a joke that was just a slam-dunk. I'm sure kids and people without a British background wouldn't get some of them! I was laughing at things hubby just didn't catch.

That was about it. Fumihiko is snoozing on the couch and I'm getting ready to think about bed. I'm trying to finish up earlier these days, but it just isn't working. Sigh. I need more sleep.

And basically, that was my day. I had a pretty good one. Quiet, but nice. Got to go, night!
