Sunny and a little cool.

I had a surprisingly good day today. I got up at a reasonable time and stayed up. There wasn't any news on, but I didn't mind too much.

I had a quiet day at home. I didn't really do a lot today, just relaxed. I felt much better, probably as a result of the relaxing. I also finished a Dick Francis novel that I haven't read for ages. I had gotten it out to lend to a friend, but then she didn't want it right away, so I decided to re-read it. I liked it a lot.

When Fumihiko came home tonight I suggested that instead of going out for dinner tonight we cook at home. I still had a spaghetti squash in my fridge and I didn't want it to go off. I thought about getting some pork chops or something like that, so that we could have a simple meal.

We needed a few supplies like milk, so we went to the grocery store. We got some sushi, some curried chicken cutlets for tonight (decided against pork chops as I'm doing a pork roast tomorrow night), salad for tomorrow and a couple of other things. When we came home, I started on dinner. Fumihiko lazed on the couch for most of it.

The chicken cooked very quickly and was ready a few minutes before the spaghetti squash. I think my microwave must be less powerful than the ones in Canada because I had to cook my squash for a bit longer than the magazine said. Anyway, when it was done, I scooped out the seeds, then separated the strands and put them in a bowl. I added some tuna mayo pasta sauce and mixed it all up. Dinner was served. It was darn good! The chicken was nice, the spaghetti squash was better cooked this time and the sauce was much nicer with it. Fumihiko had made coffee for us, so we had a nice meal.

Fumihiko did the dishes and then we had a nice evening in front of the TV. I "booked" the TV from 10pm so that I could watch the finale of Jekyll. It was great! Very inventive, and an interesting turn on the old story. I switched over to ER at 11. I didn't ask because Fumihiko likes the show too.

When it was over I suggested that while we're in Sakata next week we go to the immigration office to renew my re-entry permit. It will expire next month. He said it was fine, but then said that it was strange that I had to do that. I have permanent residency now, surely I don't have to pay to come back in to Japan. Fumihiko said he'd ask at the immigration office about it, but I told him it was basically a tax on being a foreigner. Then, I started on the whole fingerprinting thing but he started being an idiot and saying that it wasn't because Japanese people think all foreigners are criminals. I had to leave the room at that point. I said that I didn't want to continue that conversation because it wouldn't end well. I'm actually glad that I left. I hate fighting about something that is so obvious to me, and so obscure to him.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm off to work. I have some things to do on the way to work, so if I'm smart I'll leave a little early. It might happen. Not!

Got to go. Night night.

My blog on Blogspot. NO annoying pop-ups, and with bonus pictures too! I'm running out of space on Angelfire and will probably move the daily blog portion to Blogspot completely.
