Cloudy in Tsuruoka, clear in Sendai.
It's been a good day so far. I got up, watched the news, showered, finished packing and then headed out to Gusto with my husband for brunch.
I had two classes at my school today. Both students were on time and both classes went well. A little after 3 I called my husband to ask him to come and get me.
We spent a bit of time getting ready for our trip, then Fumihiko and I got onto the highway. I played some tunes on my iPod and the trip went well. The mountains were a bit snowy, and the road was wet and busy. It was a little surprising how much snow there was already.
Our car navigation system worked very well, and brought us right to the hotel. We parked and then checked in. We have a twin room on a non-smoking floor. We have a lovely view of an apartment building being built across the street, but it's not a big deal really. We're not here for the view.
We arrived around 7 pm, dropped our bags and then hit the shops. First we walked to Maruzen books where I got quite a few books. I picked up a few magazines too. I discovered that Sue Grafton has a new one out as well. Yay. I got it of course! How much did I spend at the bookstore? 48 yen. Last time I was in Sendai I cashed in some of my reward points so I had 10000 yen in gift certificates.
Our next big stop was to Jupiter, the import food store. I was mostly restrained there, but did get some decaffeinated coffee and mincemeat tarts. Christmas is coming after all.
We had dinner underneath the station at a little Italian restaurant. It was good and fairly reasonable. I had carbonara and Fumihiko had the steak set.
We came back to the hotel, dropped off our bags and went to the nearest conbini to get some munchies for later on. Hubby got beer, I got oolong tea.
That's about it for today. So far the trip has been very good. I do have to get up early tomorrow to shower and have breakfast before heading to the station to go to the expo. Wish me luck!
|My blog on Blogspot. NO annoying pop-ups, and with bonus pictures too! I'm running out of space on Angelfire and will probably move the daily blog portion to Blogspot completely.
