About SEC
Ain Shams University established the Science Education Center in November 1973, as one of the educational activities of the university. The Center was planned to be a special unit for the development of science education in the domains of chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics.
Professor Dr.
Y. S. Kotb, the former president of Ain Shams University was appointed as a director of the Center since its establishment till March 1, 2000. Prof. Dr. Ameen F. Fahmy, Professor of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, who has worked as an expert in the Center, was then appointed as a director of the Center in March 2, 2000.Since its establishment, the Center has received continuous support from many international scientific organizations, such as Ford Foundation,
UNESCO and ALECSO. This helped in sending experts for short-term scholarships and in developing educational materials serving the cause of science education in the region.
