1) Tower of Glass
2) Tower of Gold
3) Tower of Silver
4) Tower of Smoke
5) Tower of Garnet
6) Tower of Shadow
7) Tower of Onyx
8) Tower of Platinum
9) Tower of Diamond
Four Towers toppled, sank, disappeared, and Exploded during the World Quake in 1279 AE or as is dated now 0 NW. Platinum sank, Diamond exploded, Shadow disappeared, and Onyx toppled.
(A side note in reference to time periods on Jade: OW is the reference for the Old World and lasted 4877 years, BE is the reference for Before Entropy and lasted 1016 years, AE is the reference for After Entropy, (but it is commonly confused with NW due the common folk’s use of AE, for recording purposes, NW is the used reference) and NW represents the new age as the New World and is in its 3rd year.)
Towers still standing:
•Gold-Neutral Good & Chaotic Good
•Silver-Lawful Good
•Glass-Lawful Neutral, True Neutral, & Chaotic Neutral
•Garnet-Neutral Evil
•Smoke-Chaotic Evil & Lawful Evil
The Tower Heads soon understood the need for the other alignments to alleviate imbalance on the magical weave. Thus, they altered the Towers that remained to reflect the above alignment relocation. Gold took on Chaotic Good so as not to conflict with the laws of nature that Silver teaches. Glass became all encompassing neutral to keep the balance. Even the neutral teachings of good and evil venture to the Tower of Glass for more lessons and to require more balance. Garnet moved from chaotic neutral to neutral evil due to its gradual affiliation with the Tower of Smoke. Smoke is by far the most unusual situation due to the fact that it contains opposing affiliations with chaotic and lawful evil. This decision was heavily supported by the Lich King, which wanted some sort of law for the magelings to abide by so they didn’t kill one another on a daily basis. The Lich King’s belief: ‘The dead cannot learn from mistakes as young living can and willfully do. They are better left alive so they can learn as much in life so they can be powerful in living death.’
The Lost Towers have never been found since they disappeared in their various destructive elements. There are hints to where they are at in the Second World Library, but this library doesn’t match what was lost in the First World Library. That library held everything that occurred in the world at any point in time. It is as lost as the Lost Towers.
The Orders of Magic follow a general organization and set of by-laws that were lined up by the Great One, Jessimon Thyme. Jessimon is the long revered creator of the Orders of Magic, even by the orders aligned with evil. For he organized magic from wild and chaotic to structure itself so it wasn’t so un-abiding.
The Head of Order typically runs each Tower according to its alignment (Gold will run its Tower, despite sharing its premise with chaotic good, etc.). No other Head of Order can operate this Tower due to cross alignment conflicts. This often causes a conflict and will force the weave into chaos as a few have experienced in the recorded history of magic. Each Tower contains a Council regarding the education and testing of those that reside within their order. This Council is made up of seventeen members. This Council includes the Head of the Tower, the Head of Education, and fifteen other members. They operate only for the purpose of bettering their Tower’s educational institution. However, it has been seen at times where this Council will act in coercion with the Order Council to determine if a certain problem affects both the institution and the orders adversely.
Each Order of Magic, with its designated alignments, has its own council of superiors as well. This council is made up of seven members and one of those is elected as Head of Order once every seven years. A Head of Order cannot be re-elected until a term has been filled by another member. Example: Merlin is elected Head of the Order of Gold and serves his term in its full. Once the term has ended, a new election occurs, but with only the six remaining members. Arthur is then elected and serves his term of seven years. At the end of this term, he cannot be re-elected, but Merlin can because he is now part of the remaining six. This is to ensure that no one member can monopolize a time period for any one stretch of time. In the event of the following: death, accident, disappearance, retirements, or other determining factors, that the one serving as Recorder,((one of the remaining six on the council and selected once the new Head is in place)(is the record keeper of the meeting notes)), becomes Head of the Order until such period has been fully served. This period is the remaining time of the seven years that the Head of the Order has missed.
This council determines whether or not issues that are affecting the local region they’re tower is in (if there are no worldwide issues adversely affecting them and the stream of magic). Once determination is made, then they vote on whether or not to involve themselves to placate the issue or invigorate it. The council is not there to solve the region’s/world’s problems. It is merely there to affect them if the problem affects them, the Tower, or the magical weave.
Despite the loss of the four towers, there still remains an order of the missing alignments as well as a council for each order. Thus there are nine Heads of Order and nine councils. Generally, the Head of the Tower is the head of the Council. However, this is slightly changed due to multiple alignments residing in certain Towers (Gold, Glass, and Smoke Towers). The remaining alignments often will act as advisor(s) to the Head of the Tower and can influence a decision if a point is made valid. These are often the Council Heads that reside in the Tower.
Head of the Order: The Head of the Order is elected as said above and will also run their respective Tower unless they are without a Tower, then they Head is an Advisor to the Tower Head. Each Order Head is required to manage its aligned magical order and assure that it prospers in some sort of way by the end of three to four years. If there can be no definitive prosperity, then they can be impeached and removed from the council altogether. This has yet to occur. At two periods in the year, all nine Heads of Order must convene to discuss the state of magic in the world and determine if anything must be done to resolve conflicts. There is no leader in this council of Order Heads. There is only one controller with a gavel to maintain order. The gavel is passed from order to order on a prescribed basis and rotates in that order. The defined rotation is as follows and is listed according to the next occurring controller: Order of Shadow, Order of Silver, Order of Diamond, Order of Onyx, Order of Gold, Order of Glass, Order of Smoke, Order of Platinum, and Order of Garnet. The rotations for the election of Heads of Order are set on the same election year. This is to maintain full communication of those Heads of Order and to develop allies among those Heads of Order.
